Sending out a package today and saw this option come up for shipping. I haven't heard of this in a long time, something akin to USPS flat rate, any ideas?
I had the same thing happen, I think it is a flat rate solution. I'm curious about the rate difference.
I just shipped something off via fed ex today, and asked them about it when i was in the store. They said that it is just express (although she didn't seem to confident of that answer). and she told me that as long as you have a fed ex account and print your own labels, that fed ex home delivery is still the cheapest option
I've noticed If I don't check the "this is a residential address" box, I save about 20% as apposed to checking the box. It ends up shipping via Ground instead of Home Delivery. So no Saturday delivery. Boxes to California run only about $25 as opposed to ~$35. All I have to do is make sure to ship on a Monday to make sure it gets there by Friday.
FWIW , UPS charges $2 for residential, If you don't click the box noting its a residence, usually upon delivery you get an email stating your invoice has been changed and they add the $2 to your card
I've tried doing this before, but it seems that FedEx catches it and charges the extra amount to my account anyway.
Dang! I just noticed this over the weekend and tried not checking the box. Can we get confirmation that fedex will automatically find and make the change?
They will just automatically charge you the difference, and I doubt you can change the delivery type after it's been picked up.
Yeah they are... they called me at 4am this morning cuz they couldn't locate the place they were supposed to deliver a box I sent
Not totally on topic but is there any way to find out how much a shipment is when you create your own label? They always wait 2-3 weeks to charge my debit card so I never know until then.
For me, there's a section titled "Rates and Transit Times" on the "create a shipment" page. I click edit in that section and it loads the rates for the info that I've put in.
