I'm hoping someone who uses their online account can shed some light on this for me. It appears the tracking info is very sparse compared to a typical ground delivery if you were to just go drop it off in the store. It hasn't updated progress (compared to the fedex box headed my way) and doesn't show an estimated delivery date, etc. Is this normal?
Need more information. When did you drop it off? What kind of store did you drop it off at? Kinkos, independent, etc? Has the box been scanned at ALL (like into your local sorting facility)?
how long ago did you drop it off? Did you get a receipt (this enters the box in the system)? It should update just like any other shipment
I have occasionally had update issues, both sending and receiving with fed ex, but nothing consistent. I usually print out my labels and drop at a location, and they track no problem. Occasionally the scans don't get sent to the system properly, but the package is still in route and fine. Good luck.
I dropped it off this past Monday and I did get a receipt. This was the same day I created my account as previously I've just done it in store. I dropped it off at the fedex office store I typically use and it does show a received and in fedex possession scan.
Travel History Help Hide Date/TimeActivity Location - 4/01/2013 - Monday 7:51 pm Arrived at FedEx location RENO, NV 6:08 pm Picked up RENO, NV 9:21 am In FedEx possession SPARKS, NV Tendered at FedEx location
As long as it was scanned in, I would not worry too much right now. Many boxes that I ship will be scanned in/out at the Boise facility, then "IN" at the Salt Lake facility, and won't update again until it is at the final destination facility before going out on the truck (sometimes 3-5 days without any other updates). Another option, if you dropped it off the same day you created your account their might be some sort of billing delay before sending it on the way. You may want to call 800-GO-FEFDEX. Speak with a live representative and give them your tracking number. Sometimes the tracking info they see is different than online and also different if you use the automated phone tracking system. Hope this helps, Toby.
So I did call them and they are seeing the same thing and opened up a case and told me to expect a call back with info. Really makes me question if I should have dealt with the online account. Maybe the estimated weight could be the issue?
Don't hold your breath for that call back. They told me that about a dozen times, never heard from 'em.
So apparently it was not related to the recent opening of my account. The FedEx agent that called me back was able to see a scan that wasn't shown in my tracking or the information the initial agent had access to. He confirmed it had been scanned onto a trailer and was good to go. All is well. I was actually quite pleasantly surprised at the promptness of the return call. It couldn't have taken more than 20 minutes tops from my initial inquiry. Cheers Guys
I've learned after multiple days with no tracking info that no news online is good news. I've had shipments leave California Monday and not have any further updates until Thursday night. The shipping exception is the only bad sign.
Ok, this thread is making me feel better. I dropped off a package last Wednesday (4/17) at a FedEx/Kinkos and it hasn't been updated beyond "Arrived at FedEx location", with the "location" being my local city. It's supposed to be delivered across the country tomorrow, so I guess I won't sweat it until tomorrow comes and goes with no box being dropped
