You don't get flagged. Ship away!

I'm lazy, so I'll link my comment I just made in a different thread about this. Good luck!

Got "The Letter" & a couple of voice mails from my "account manager" a couple of months ago, shipped UPS for a month & then right back to FedEx with no issues since then. My letter wasn't even triggered by a breakage; someone must have been curious there so they must have X Ray'd the box & saw alcohol then made my target pick up the box in person bringing ID to verify he was 21. He did that, got the box & sent me pics and nothing was missing (that I could recall) & he said that nothing was sticky

    While I wasn't the shipper,
this isn't entirely correct. A couple of months ago I had something like 6 boxes all on their way to me. One of the boxes had an issue, they opened it and found alcohol . They then grabbed the second box. I and my trade partners tried to have the remaining boxes re routed, but thT didn't help, they grabbed ALL the boxes.

Fortunately they agreed to return all of the boxes to their original senders and they were then reshipped UPS. Cost me a shit'oad of money.

So yes, they DO flag a recipients address. Can't say about the shipper.

They don't "flag" accounts. Especially not recipients because recipients don't need to have FedEx accounts in order to receive deliveries. To the previous post, they probably discovered the first box and as other boxes rolled in with your address on them, they asserted their probable cause to check the rest. It's not really rocket science.

Their "probable cause". lol. Also, I didn't write a recipients account, I wrote a recipients address.

    1) thanks for telling me all about what happenned to.....me. very helpful, I wasn't there.

    2) you've been watching too much tv. They don't need probable cause to open a package, They're not a instrumentality of the government.

    3) if they did need probable cause, the fact one box contained alcohol does not give probable cause to open a separate box from an entirely different shipper on an entirely different shipment.

My mistake on the "account" versus "address" ... Bad wording on my part. And I didn't mean "probable cause" as a literal, legal term. I meant their suspicions were aroused when they found beer in one box. Then another box comes with your name on it so they decide they better check it out. Then another, and another. You get the point. You should probably take your smugness elsewhere since, as a 5 year employee of a shipping company, I know what I'm talking about.

And while it is well within the rights of FedEx to open any package they deem suspicious, I can assure you it basically never happens without good reason.

Only 5 years, Mike? Come back with your opinions when you've been on the job ten years, until then you don't know what you're talking about

Hmmmm, for the less awake readers that ^^^ is humor.

the fuck they don't flag addresses/names

I cannot receive anything from FedEx, period. Not Ground. Not Home Delivery, nada. Something like 11 straight boxes have been returned. All when they hit Secaucus and the dreaded "on vehicle for delivery," which I've come to realize is just an automated thing and it doesn't mean it's actually ON the vehicle.

I've even requested packages be held for me to go pick-up. NOPE. also flagged "improper shipment - return to sender."

I've ordered things from Amazon, but I don't believe it's sent FedEx. We just got a box yesterday from Amazon. At any rate it showed without any issue.

maybe a more respectful reply that didn't include "it's not rocket science" would have obviated the need for what you think was a smug response. And regardless of where you work, since you're not me, and you're not th3 fed ex employee who I spoke with, I think it's fairly safe to say you DON'T know what you're talking about in my situation.

    makes sense?

    Anyway, cheers!

You can't receive ANYTHING? Or you can't receive beer? I'm willing to bet if you ordered something from Amazon, it would be waiting on your doorstep in a couple days. And the "on vehicle for delivery" is triggered by a scan done by the driver when he/she loads the package during the morning package sort. So if the driver is loading your box but then scanning it as improper when he/she gets on the road then the "on vehicle" scan is all but a formality.

My apologies for the rocket science comment. It wasn't meant to be a dig at your intelligence or anything like that. I just meant that as a courier, it becomes fairly obvious in situations like the one you described. You got dinged getting beer shipped to you, they sent them all back. It's pretty clear and dry. 5 years, 5 days a week, 130-140 deliveries a day, I've seen it all. I know what I'm talking about.

Might be best served getting your stuff sent to a local FedEx Office for a while and picking it up on your way home from work or something. The driver that serves your area is clearly plagued with too much time on his hands and too small of a tolerance for shenanigans. I knowingly deliver beer/wine fairly frequently and I give exactly zero shits about it. Doesn't hurt anyone, so I say live and let live.

covered above that I can receive from Amazon, though I honestly don't know if those come FedEx or USPS. I have Prime so I get free 2-day shipping

    I can't receive BEER. They've clearly flagged my name/address

Amazon uses both FedEx and UPS. As for you being flagged, that's just the driver remembering your address with regards to you getting "prohibited" shipments in the past. You're not on any official list anywhere as there is no such list.
