if you'd read what I wrote above, you'd know that packages sent both Ground & Home Delivery, which are different routes with different drivers, have been flagged and not delivered. 2 weeks ago I thought I caught one in time, and requested that it be HELD at the local facility for me to go pick it up. That ALSO got flagged and sent back.

my name/address have been flagged, it's far more than a single driver "remembering my address."

FedEx Ground and Home Delivery are the same thing essentially. Ground typically does businesses and Home Delivery typically does residential deliveries. So, it's probably the same driver every time. Have you tried getting stuff delivered at work?

dude, I know how the routes work here, I've lived here for 10 years and have been shipping beer the entire time

The Ground & Home Delivery guys are completely different. One comes in the morning, one comes in the evening.

I can get shit delivered to work without issue, but I work in NYC and lugging beer home on my commute fucking sucks, so FedEx can kiss my ass

Haha why, for following their clearly stated rules for shipping? Sorry it's become a pain in the ass for you man, I really am. I'm sure there's a FedEx Office somewhere between your work and your home. The alternative is UPS, which costs significantly more from what I hear.

I switched to UPS about 4 1/2 months ago, no difference in costs for me (it has been more expensive for some of the people shipping to me)

Just curious, whats my play here? It was shipped to me so it isn't under my account. I suspect it was multiple boxes as I got one today with the same tracking # but it says 1 of 4 above the tracking #. Weird thing is when I search that tracking # online it just shows 1 box and it was delivered.

Side note - I've got a lot of stuff on fedex right now that should be delivered over the next few days. Should I wait until that is all done to not draw any attention to my account? Does fedex even flag your account for alcohol?

What should I say when I call them? Just play stupid and say it a was a friend sending a surprise birthday present and I didn't know it was beer? Apologize and thank them for their time?

Thanks in advance for your help!

If only there was a post about improper fed ex alcohol shipments and flagged accounts...

Well considering I did a search for both improper fedex and flagged accounts and I dont see anything useful, how about you not make posts for the sake of hearing yourself and help a fellow BAer out. I know how to use search and I'm not finding anything that is useful.

    Yep....

"A college buddy found out that my wife is pregnant again.... Money is a little tight... He says he sent me birthday present, I figured it was cookies from his wife or maybe a video game. I had no idea he was sending alcohol... I will let him know that it isn't allowed and don't do it again. Terribly sorry for any inconvenience.... Is it okay if I just come down and pick up the box? I don't want to be any more of a burden then I already have. Thanks so much."

I've had to do it a couple of times... Just play dumb and be nice. Once I had a growler of Short's Key Lime Pie leak.... They threw away the growler saying, "It smelled really sour like the beer had gone bad, I probably did you a favor." I was able to pick up the other 12+ Shorts 12ozers that were in the box.

    Hope this helps.

Did they actually let you come down and pick up the beer?

Apparently, your search skills aren't as sharp as you think.

Next time, open this forum and look at the first page...there's a relevant thread about six threads down from yours which asks/answers many of the same questions and contains both "FedEx" and "Improper" in the thread title. The eyes are a valuable tool.

Merging this thread with that one.

    Yep... No sweat.

This has happened at least 3x times to me over the years.... Every time I caught the exception early enough in the day, called the local hub... Joked around with them and was very nice and was able to pick up the rest of the package.

So the person who's account this was under talked to fedex and they gave her two options.

    1. They destroy the package (AKA someone keeping the beer)
    2. I could go pick it up (the recipient) but I would have to pay a fine.

The person decided to just destroy the beer without finding out how much the fine was...which is kind of a bummer as I'm curious what the fine would have been.

On a side note, I think I know what happen. This guy I trustee for always ships 2 day air for some reason. That goes through a different office and some guy decided to be a hero. I've got two other packages from other shippers coming in today and were shipped ground and both of those are showing perfectly ok still. I'm assuming that means people shouldn't ship 2 day to me as that office tends to be jerks about it.

To my knowledge, FedEx has no authority to "fine" anybody. First time I've ever heard of it.

That is really odd. I know there are some folks on here that actually work for FedEx... Maybe they can chime in.

My fiancee used to work for fedex kinko's (on the kinko's side) and she said for a fact they would fine people. That being said she only knew about them doing it when it was bodily fluids (think pee test) or blood. The fine was hundreds of dollars too. She had never heard of them doing it for alcohol but its been years since she worked there.

Luckily this was a trustee shipment so I'm not missing out on anything. I would be super bummer if it was a proper trade.

I work for a large academic hospital and we ship/receive blood (and other body parts) all the time. I've never heard of anyone getting fined. I'm sure that not all shipments are properly labeled.

Fine. Haha bribe or nice tip would be synonyms for that I am guessing?

FedEx employee here. I think I've heard mentions of fines if people ship undeclared dangerous goods - things that are radioactive, flammable, etc - but I can't imagine there being a fine for shipping alcohol. I'd have to ask one of the customer service reps to be sure.

I understand everything you've written. But help me with this if you can. In my situation I was aware of the problem, and was aware boxes were en, route. I contacted my trade partners and PAID to have the boxes re routed to a different name and different address. They refused to do it, as soon as the boxs reached this area they grabbed them and opened th3m up. this wasn't just one box we're talking about its multiple boxes. Cost me and my partners a lot of aggravation and me a lot of money

If my name and addressed aren't flagged, why wouldn't they just allow the box to be re routed? It never got to a truck to be delivered so this part of my story has nothing to do with the delivery driver.

Your fees for reroute should be refunded for that. As for the whole "name and address being flagged" thing, all I can speak to is that FedEx doesn't keep a database like that. Your local spot might have somewhat of a shit list - people who have dogs that bite, people suspected of shipping/receiving drugs, people who don't pay their bill for pickups, the list goes on - and you might just be on some hero's shit list. I'm sure you can imagine how many regular customers we have and stations and route drivers get to know their regulars by name and address pretty quickly. All it takes is someone in your area seeing your name and address and pulling your box before it even makes it to the sort.

So perhaps our discussion is a case of a difference in semantics. While I can assure you there's no automated system or database that dings accounts, it's not far fetched for a few FedEx employees in your area to know that you've been busted receiving beer and therefore they take it upon themselves to watch for your name. Your driver can see your box and pull it before it gets onto his truck and that's probably what's happening.
