    Hello fellow BA's,

I recently created my own FedEx shipping account. It is super convenient and I've had no problems so far, going on my 7th shipment in 2 months. Both inbound and outbound.

Lately I've noticed that if I estimate the weight/dimensions slightly below the exact dimensions or weight, the tracking is updated appropriately, BUT, I am not charged more for the increased weight or size. I've never had my boxes rejected due to this issue. Every one has been delivered on time without issue.

This has now worked in my favor twice. I'm curious, am I extremely lucky? Or does it take time for FedEx to catch on? Maybe it's so close in cost, it's not worth their time to re-bill me.

Anyone else have the same thing happen with FedEx or UPS?

    Cheers
    Tyler

Do they usually correct the charge the day it gets picked up?

Ya, that's what I'm worried about too. If I'm picking up the tab, it's not as concerning. But if I'm shipping for a buddy and he's reimbursing me then I don't want to get the short end of the stick. As a test today, I put a box out considerably underweight and dimensions. I should definitely get charged more for this box. I'll update the post once I have that info.

I weigh on a home scale and then round up to the nearest pound to be sure. Probably has cost me a few extra bucks over time, but I've never been upcharged.

So looks I like did get lucky. Today I purposely under estimated a shipment to see what would happen. Original quote was $11.50. Updated price $18.50 (fair). So guess I got lucky those few times. If you're within a buck or two they may let it slide. But big variances they are going to catch. Cheers!

So I sent something out, a bottle, 3-4 lbs, I put 4lbs, and it gave me an estimate of $7.xx filling it out online. I look at my bank account yesterday and have a charge of an extra $5, putting the package up to $12. Wtf?!

I think it's a store by store thing. mine doesn't correct if I get the weight wrong. I've shipped probably 75 packages there, maybe more

So you could be 5-10lbs off in your favor and they never catch it? That's awesome! I hope you take advantage.

I always bring box to shipping center and pay cash. Never give them a CC to add post charges too. The FedEx appp work well to track package. Granted it take 5-10min in store but I usually go early 7am

yeah, I feel it's just so much easier to print the label at home. and if there is a line in the store, the guys there just see that I'm dropping off / don't need a receipt and let me cut the line to just drop the box off

I agree. Plus the rates are better online, and no annoying questions in store about the contents.

Wait what? I print my shipping info at home and they still ask me what I'm sending when I drop the box off completely ready to go. Same girl each time so far and she always moves the box around and you can hear or feel the liquid moving around also. Hate. it.

Wtf? That's a little much. I would go somewhere else. If they are suspicious of liquids I go with olive oil. Lol

Yea guess I'll need to find another dropoff point. This one is so convenient, literally a mile down the road which is hard to beat.

What type of FedEx shipping do you guys choose? Overnight, 2 day, Express, Ground, ect...? I guess trying to keep it cold is not normally done?

I pretty much always do ground. Anything air is super expensive unless it's really small and lightweight.
