I didn't see another thread posted on this yet.

Last week I noticed a new Fedex feature when I was looking at the tracking for a box headed my way that was cutting it close to me being away for a few days. I saw a new option for online package management, in which I could place all boxes on hold for vacation, schedule a specific box for a specific day/time (costs money), and a few other things.

The general "vacation hold" was free, so I gave it a shot. There was a small sign-up process where it verified some personal information, but once I got through, it worked like a charm. I put a hold on for a couple of days and it showed up right on time on the new date.

Previously, re-routing Fedex while in transit was a nightmare - you had to have the sender call it in, or wait for a failed delivery attempt before you could do it yourself.

So just a public service announcement, but this feature seems to work great and should simplify a lot of those "don't ship until Thursday because I'll be away this weekend" types of trading conversations.

sounds good to me! i've had boxes held at a fedex location before, especially if i'm out of town and it's supposed to be very hot/cold..

I will say, though, that the only 2 boxes i've ever lost in the mail were both lost after an attempted re-route, for whatever that's worth (done it successfully, too).
