Pre-print labels, no i dont need a receipt. Usually write "Fragile Snowglobes" on the box.

I was shipping to a brewery for a contest once with ups.

UPS "This is going to a brewery?"

    Me "Yes"

    UPS "what's in it?"

    Me "Glassware"

    UPS "is it beer?"

    Me "no"

UPS "are you sure it's not beer?"

    Me long stare....... "yes"

    Package shipped.

Most times I ship with fedex and just walk in with prepaid label and but it on the table and say it's already got a label, thanks! As I walk out. Hell one time she was helping a customer I just put it on the table and walked out without saying a word.

Ive only recently started using UPS, I was using USPS then found out it was illegal, and USPS never asked what was inside of the box.. every time UPS asks I just say homemade salad dressing, never had a problem yet.
How do the Prepaid Fedex labels work? Do you have to use a flat rate box or something? they always go off of weight for the charge.

Just create a free account online then there are choices for shipping method and a drop down box for your own box and you add the weight and dimensions of the box.

    Here's how it works:

FedEx employee: What are the contents of the box?

You: Multiple bottles of strawberry-flavored personal lubricant.

    FedEx employee: *silence*

Why all strawberry. You should be a more thoughtful partner and get multiple flavors.

hmnmm...if that scan is still active and showing as "in fedex possession" you should call them up and ask what gives...been sitting in your possession for over a month and then file a claim and get paid $100.

as for what to tell them when they ask...2 months ago, someone asked me what was in the box and I just shouted "Allah Akbar" and ran out. Ironically, they ended up closing that fedex early that day for some sort of a bomb scare and since then, even more coincidentally I've flown twice and both times got pulled to the side for extensive questioning before being allowed through security.

I can't take credit for this one, I read somewhere in this forum...
I've been asked a couple of times and I always say motorcycle parts that my cousin asked me to pick up for him. I've never been asked any further questions.

i once said i was shipping copy machine ink and that opened a whole can of worms. did we clear it with Fed Ex to show it wasn't toxic or environmentally harmful? i assured her we did. was it flammable? I assured her it was not. etc etc. Next time I think I'll just go with "none of your f***ing business."

I haven't had to use anything yet (setting it up online and dropping off works very nicely, at least at my local place), but if I do, I'm going with barbecue sauce and rubs that I just picked up on a trip to Kansas City and sending to a friend.

I usually just say a care package. Rarely do they ever follow-up with another question. Most of them are just going through the motions.

I've used glassware (tell them steins, explains the weight) and homemade soda. The homemade soda one actually saved a shipment. A trade was sent to me and the label came off. When they tracked the box down they opened it to verify the contents. They asked what kind of bottles would be in there, I told them any kind with a pop-top that can be recapped. It explained the multiple types of bottles. Lucky they didn't notice the caps were original to the brand.
    Anyway, I got it.

I just talk to the people there every time I go in. Usually go to Fedex at least once a week at approximately the same time, so usually I see the same guy and manager. The first few times, I told them I was selling of my dad's large collection of mechanical and electrical engineering textbooks (books seem to have a similar weight to bottles especially), key with those is make sure there is no sloshing around. A few time with what are clearly shippers, I tell them it is special imported olive oil or vinegar I get from a specialty italian store in Boston. But now I'm on a first name basis with everyone at my branch, and they don't ask me any more. Oh and I always fill out the surveys. They appreciate that.
