My wife is a hophead. Stone IPA is her favorite beer, but she will also drink Flower Power, Celebration and Two-Hearted Ale. When we met, she was drinking a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. In 1994.

I like her. Hope they get their comeuppance... Are there any breweries started by women? Not as half a couple--either by women only, or women at the top?

We are not your average beer drinkers if you haven't noticed... Of course this site skews male, that isn't the question at hand.

Based on what factual information (you know hard numbers like beer festival attendance..). Your personal preconceived notions hold no weight with me (like I said I work at http://beercornerusa.com/ so I see who buys beer from us etc. everyday)

Did you know that 68% of statistical percentages are made up on the spot?

Which is to say, "there are lies, there are damned lies, and then there are statistics"

Hate to say it, but you're the one making an assumption.

I have never felt a passionate, burning desire to include my wife in my hobbies. She has hers and I have mine. Luckily we can typically find decent food in places that I have identified as providing good beer opportunities.

har har. it sucks because i am doing my job and get harassed. a few weeks ago i had to stand on a counter to change a sign and some dude shouted out "oh you gonna dance for us now?" (not the first time)

would he have said that to a dude? probably not. so its awesome to have to deal with idiots like that when im just trying to get my work done

Before I read any of your post I thought this was Brouwerij 't IJ. The skinny scruffy guy who also works at Bierkoning gives a great tour.

My wife also reintroduced me to craft beer after her parents moved to Amsterdam for a couple of years. She came back with a new love for beer that got me into Belgians and it was all down hill after that.

There are a few couples that have breweries. But it's sometimes hard to tell the internal dynamics. Pretty Things is a husband/wife team (used to be two couples, but one quit), but the husband is one with formal training (Belgium) and he does most of the talking when they present (but not all). Like the Animal Farm, they are equal, but some are more equal than others.

It's a known fact that women do way more shopping than men. So just because you know women are buying the beer that doesn't mean they're drinking it. Like I said before I don't have any actual statistics, so if you do please share them.

of course I made an assumption, and I would bet that on average, most other people would make the same one.

I'm very lucky that my wife is as into good beer as I am. It's been that way from the start:slight_smile: Some of our other "couple" friends are into beer as well, and we all regularly go to beer festivals and breweries together.

Sick picture. That place was so effing cool. They had some pretty hoppy offerings for an Euro Brewery.

Met her at a collaboration party this year. Progressive, forward thinking. I would say she has made it and continues to take the company forward.

I keep trying to get my girlfriends onto nice beers. They all seem to not like hops as much but they all have never disliked a sour.

Outstanding thread! This is great news for all craft beer lovers.
My wife prefers wine, but does love pumpkin beers (her and I have tried at least
1-2 dozen) and Sam Adams Oktoberfest.

Just got back from weekly beer run and stunned to hear a woman
utter, "I like IPAs." to my local beer guy while she was looking for a recommendation.
    sniff...I'm so proud.

My wife is pregnant and I'm just getting into craft. Bad timing, but considering we're both art school grads who love beer and have a background in the coffee business, I can guarantee you she'll be pretty into it when she's able to be.
