FFF Dreadnaught vs Arctic Panzer Wolf

    I was just browsing through the current FFF taplist and reading Permanent Funeral reviews; and it made me remember the last time I came through and drank both Dreadnaught and APW on tap. I remember deciding I liked Dreadnaught quite a bit better, probably since it had a bit more balance- and was curious to see who else has tried them both back to back. Be nice to read some more recent opinions on this.. especially if you've had the new Permanent Funeral as well.

    I will say that bottled APW's label is definitely more bad-ass looking.

    And of course, I preemptively agree they need to date their bottles which is why I won't buy their bottled DIPAs unless its at the brewpub.

    I've had both back to back, but out of the bottle. They were both really fantastic, but different beers. I agree though, I liked Dreadnaught better.

    Agreed, I did find Dreadnaught to be more balanced, but that's not to say I didn't love APW

    I actually found Panzer Wolf to be relatively lousy. Dreadnaught, on the other hand, was quite enjoyable.

    APW wins for me, I think it's a lil more abrasive. Love dreadnaught also and agree it is more balanced, think it's alot sweeter also. Both amazing beers.

    I just did this last Thursday because, like you, I was interested to see what the difference would be. I had both beers on draft. APW first, then the Dreadnaught. To me, the APW seemed much more sweet with more bubblegum/tropical flavor. The Dreadnaught definitely had a more peppery/spicey finish. On this particular day, I preferred the Dreadnaught more, but I like both of them very much. Depends on the mood, what else i've had to drink that day, food i'm consuming, etc...If you can get your hands on either, you are in for a treat.

    I had Permanent Funeral last week on Tap. It was fabulous, if you like Dreadnaught, you will really like this. I picked up 3 bombers as well, probably crack one open tonight.

    In my opinion, Dreadnaught is truly epic. APW not so much.

    Both awesome beers, just tried them both fresh side by side and dreadnaught was the best by far

    I don't think any bottle of DreadNaught I've had has ever been fresh, so my vote isn't really valid until I experience that. So for now, it's APW.

    I did a side by side of PF and Dread at the pub. I liked PF better actually.

    But in regards to Dread vs APW, I choose Dread.

    Dreadnaught for the beer.

    APW for the label ("Death to False Prophets" version, not the new, sissy wolf one.)

    Never had Dreadnaught, but APW was not all that great to me. I'm just not as impressed by FFF hoppy beers as most people are.
