I'm heading up to Shelburne VT for three days in late November. For those of you who've visited the brewery, what's been your experience like and what can I expect as far as picking up some of their best canned beers? Are certain days and times optimal? Thanks in advance.

Aside from an actual canning release day (usually Thursdays) there is rarely ever more than 2-3 other people there in my experience. Tastings are free, or at least they have been the last 2 times I was there. They usually only have 1 canned offering at a time, and they sell it fresh off the canning line. The canning runs generally it sells out in a day or two, Mastermind being the beer they have canned most recently. In late November word on the street is they will still be canning Mastermind, but that is around the time they mentioned canning Second Fiddle again. I you aren't going to be up on a Thursday or Friday to get cans during a release, assuming they don't sell out they usually send some out to distro, so you may be able to find it in some stores.

To add to bahnfire, they can every 2 or 3 Thursdays. I think they are getting pretty consistent about every 2 weeks/Thursdays having a can release, but that might vary depending on beer fests/events, etc.

I expect Hodad to make a return in Nov or December. Winter is a great time for porters  and I'm hoping to see Hodad return this winter.

There's hardly ever a line or waiting. I've seen the entire tasting room full before, but that's just because the beer tour bus had just dropped off a dozen people. If the tour bus isn't outside and there's no special releases, then there'll be virtually no line for tastings or growler fills.

I've been there on a non-release day, and was the only soul for about ten minutes. Great beer, super friendly staff, and a nice relaxed vibe.

I assume they still have some Mastermind left from today's release?

Fiddle usually posts on there web site when they run out of cans. I haven't seen anything yet so you should be good to get some! Or give them a call to check.

I plan on visiting next Friday. Any idea if anything else will be canned next Thursday? Would love to get Mastermind if it lasts.

I just bought a couple packs and it sounded like they only had a few cases left in the back. It is fantastic. Drank one with lunch at the pizza place next door.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I'm just going to get there on a Thursday and roll the dice. Maybe they'll have some fresh Mastermind on hand and no lines.

I've never been a Fiddlehead IPA fan, but I picked up a couple of 4 packs of Double IPA Mastermind today at the brewery and my mind is blown. Wow. I don't know if I'd put it quite in the class of Heady and Abner, but it's a hell of a lot closer than I thought it would be. Outstanding buzz too. I really want to try this on tap.

I checked the website. Maybe it will last a week, since I will get there next Friday.
Our next Mastermind Double IPA can release date is Thursday, October 2nd at noon.

They don't have Mastermind on tap at the brewery, I just picked up a case of cans. They had their regular IPA, a Saison and a Brett wild ale on tap.

Went with a bachelor party on a non-release Saturday in August. There were plenty of people in and out. However, they only had two beers on tap (a pale ale and an IPA). Both beers were good, but not memorable. Nothing available in cans.

I had Mastermind this weekend and it's phenomenal. I would love to get my hands on more!

Was able to score some Mastermind from the Oct. 2 canning. Was worth the hype. It is great!

Is this the beer geek equivalent of weight lifters describing their "pump" during a workout?

Can anyone tell me if they fill their own growlers only or if I can bring one?
