I've been there a few times now and to my knowledge they only fill their own growlers. If they have started filling other growlers that is welcome news to me.

 

As far as I know, only 2 VT breweries don't fill other growlers: VPB and Drop-In. Everyone else (that I've been to or heard about) fills other growlers. VPB and Drop-In both have an "extensive cleaning & sanitizing process" where they sell pre-filled growlers, so you can drop off your current growler and pick up another/new/pre-filled one. That's just AFAIK - there could be a couple others that I just haven't heard about. I have Fiddlehead half-growlers, so I've always just refilled them.

 

Hopefully by November they'll be back to brewing Second Fiddle, which is really what you want to try to get.
I would also try to visit Otter Creek and get their Double Dose. Thursday in Warren is a good day for Lawson's.

 

Fiddlehead posted on FB or Twitter that they aren't doing any more Second Fiddle until next year, so you might have to wait until spring or summer.

 

Yeah they have been really inconsistent with the information they have posted on the various social networks regarding this. The most recent post I've seen discussing Mastermind/Second Fiddle was on Instagram (of all places). In that post they said Mastermind would be canned until Dec, at which time they would switch over to Second Fiddle. Here is the link to the post.

 

On a slightly related note I find it interesting how divisive their two canned DIPA offerings are. In every thread that discusses Mastermind someone chimes in with how Second Fiddle is much better. Whereas I couldn't care less if they ever made Second Fiddle again. Maybe it is just me, but between comments here, FB, Twitter, Instagram, most folks seem to either fall clearly in the Mastermind or Second Fiddle camp.

 

I had heard about that post too, but I asked, and they said maybe in November.

 

I fall into the Second Fiddle camp, and even place Second Fiddle above Heady and Double Sunshine.

 

They defiantly fill growlers from other breweries, I've done it many times
