Count me in for the Mastermind is way better than Second Fiddle camp. Mastermind is godly stuff, Second Fiddle is great stuff. There is a difference.

I really want to try it again. I got a few four packs last year and they weren't great. I shared them with several people who love IPAs and everyone said the same. Tasted like vegetables really, overly green vegetable tasting. They did not get hot or anything like that. Some from brewery directly, others CBC Waterbury.

I'm convinced it was an off batch or something.

Well I had some plans change and probably won't be able to make it up to Vermont after all for this release. So that sucks.

I've tried this beer every year they've released it and while I appreciate it I'm not a fan of it. Much prefer second fiddle. Enjoy guys and buy my share!

Dang, I'm going to be in Burlington on Saturday, but I'll be with the family and I won't be able to spend 2 hours waiting to get some cans. Sounds like there won't be anything left if I stop by later in the day, either. And with the crowds, I probably won't even be able to get a growler or two filled while I'm in the neighbourhood. So close, and yet so far!

Better revisit your plans boys, due to equipment failure this release is cancelled. Check the Fiddlehead Twitter account for confirmation. What a bummer.

Just saw the brewery tweet this, figured it deserved its own thread so those planning to go wouldn't have to dig through the other one to find this information. You can confirm for yourself on the Fiddlehead Twitter account. Looks like equipment failure is the cause.

Really bummed to hear about what happened and really hope that the financial impact of this equipment failure won't hurt the brewery too much. Can't be easy to see such a big batch go down the drain :slight_frown:

Doesn't Fiddlehead use Iron Heart Canning? I wonder if the issue is on their end. Not sure what equipment would fail at the brewery level to impact a canning run when the mobile canning line is just brought in.

Is this because of potential hiccups associated with moving to the new brewery?

Maybe just delayed a week, this was just announced on CBC's facebook: Extremely thrilled & honored to be receiving a small shipment ofFiddlehead Brewing Company's 2016 ‪#‎MastermindDoubleIPA‬ next Thursday, June 2nd, for a 4pm release! As well, we'll be hosting Matthew Cohen, Fiddlehead's Brew Master and Owner, from 4 to 5 - hope to see you then! cc: Craft Collective

They are expanding capacity in a building behind the current brewery

Ive got to say I find it odd that we don't hear any updates about the new brewery being built behind the existing one. For years we have followed Shaun's build in Greensboro and John and Jen's new brewery in Stowe, but Matt's new brewery is almost totally on the DL. Weird.

Fiddlehead purposely has a "relatively" small social media presence. Second fiddle releases are not advertised either, during the winter, cans lasted for days.

The Craft Beer Cellar in Fenway will also be hosting Matt Cohen from 5:30-6:30 on Thursday the 2nd with beer release of Mastermind at the same time.

That's too far for me to get a 4 pack. I hope they set a new release date at the brewery instead of tiny releases like this.

Sorry for the folks who wanted Mastermind, but the can release cancellation actually worked out pretty well for me. I was able to stop by and get growlettes of Brett on the Dance Floor and Second Fiddle in about 5 minutes. B on the D is basically just boozy Orangina, and that's pretty great.
