My notes were that it reminded me of a churro beer - the cinnamon was out front. This was a half glass from tap. New Glory did a churro beer a year ago or so.

Agreed on the enjoyable passionfruit aspect, can't remember it being that prominent in any previous KC batch.

Yeah I guess they nailed the cake thing, just too much coconut for me. I asked my wife to tell me what she smells, and my 4 year old son put his nose in the glass and said "smells like ice cream!", lol. I think coffee or more barrel would have help offset some of the sweetness, but to each their own!

I got all nutmeg in the can I opened. Hopefully my other three cans will have too much coconut, lol

I was thinking the same thing. I love coconut, vanilla and chocolate and barrel in my stouts, but this was something else. Perhaps the nutmeg as you mention, or the lactose mentioned above. Regardless, after my post i cracked an Old Rasputin and mixed them about 70-30 (cuz i had already had some of the Danger Cake), and it was actually pretty good!

This might be their quickest sell out for a beer. I missed the first release but based off the praise given to this beer from this forum I think I'm going to order a bunch of this. So happy for online ordering!

Anyone experience a noticeable difference between draft and cans of King Citra? Last night, I opened up my growler that was filled on 5/15. The strong aroma and passion fruit quality was almost nonexistent in my growler fill.

Just had New Dreams on tap. It was nice enough but I was surprised at how shallow the flavor was. It was nice and tasty but it was just not that deep from my perspective. Two of my favorite hops too, and I usually love them in combination

I concur, good taste but the feel was not my thing at all.

I've learned not to hang onto Fieldwork's growlers/crowlers too long, but 4 days doesn't seem like too much. I'm finishing up my last King Citra can now and it's so damn good. I'd almost get sad but I'm too zoned in waiting for this week's pre-order notice.

My first Fieldwork pre-sale. Only got a 4-pack ea. of the IPAs. Waiting for Rainbow Parfait to appear though...

Edit: Oh, their IG said they backtracked on the canning of Rainbow. So that's that.

Were you able to pick up Powerbatch 5000? It's coming up "unavailable" for me.

Grabbed DDH Pulp and PB5000. The DDH is one of the best beers I've had from them. Stoked to get cans this time around.

which location and what time did you make your purchase?

Edit: looks like DDHP is showing up as unavailable in Berkeley as of 12:30pm.

Holy crap, DDH Pulp & PB5000 are already unavailable? WOW.

The parfait never came up at all. Sacramento, San Mateo, and San Ramon didn't have cans for a while. I'm glad I picked some up the second it worked, can't believe they're gone this fast.

They did say they're setting some aside this time for I guess line-standing tomorrow morning.

San Mateo. Completed the purchase around 12:15, pretty much right when the sale went live.

Yup. Per their IG post, they'll have a limited number of cans available at around ~6pm today in Berkeley. Since I was able to get a 4-pack of DDHP, I might just go tomorrow and get a crowler fill of PB5000.

If they're going to stick with this hybrid in-person/online release model, they should adjust limits to be more equitable. Being able to pick up a whole case online, plus maybe even more in person allows hoarders and traders to win out.

They should just lower the limits. Who honestly needs 24 cans of any of these beers? 2-3 4-packs is more than reasonable.
