King Citra was pretty average. The Saint Thomas was a delicious tropical juice bomb though. Got six crowlers to take home.

Wow...King Citra average? I mean, I know shit's subjective, but damn.

Well I had it after Saint Thomas and Orange Julian earlier that day so my standards were pretty high. I also didn't really care for Rodney dankerfield if that helps explain. It is really hard to get a double ipa juice bomb just right.

I had it side by side with Orange Julian, both from the growler, and thought they were pretty similar. OJ had a bit more tropical notes, particularly mango, but displayed a touch more alcohol. I could drink either and be perfectly content. I haven't tried this batch of St Thomas, but the last batch I tried was a well-crafted beer though not particularly note-worthy, if that makes any sense. I thought Rodney Dankerfield was awesome and growler fill-worthy.

    "It" being King Citra?

Agreed, average and King Citra don't belong in the same sentence...I found it very good for my palate. YMMV

I also finally got to try OVERRIPE yesterday as well. I always seem to miss it at the FW taproom. They got a keg at NIX Tacos in Roseville.

I definitely got that Peach vibe. Some of the white grape as well. Pretty low bitterness.

Had a glass of Orange Julian when it tapped last Wednesday. Became my favorite CM IPA.

Had a growler last Friday (and a little on Saturday) and didn't enjoy it as much. Too boozy, a little one dimensional and lacked the subtleties I tasted before. Did it drop off that quick!?

    Back to Cellarmaker today.

Now that hit the spot. Exactly how I remember it last week! Maybe it's super delicate and doesn't lend itself to growers?

As for St Thomas, I agree with you in that it's not exciting. But I had some of the current batch and it's way better than before. Might even be what I'd consider their best made beer.

I got a Growler of King Citra last night after work. I would agree, I found it very good. Had those orange fruit notes. Also good mouth feel. Tasted some of the ABV and slight bitterness on the back end.

    +++++

Also FYI: PULP Ipa is back on tap and for fills starting today at Berk, Sac and Napa.

Well Saint Thomas isn't modern juicy style but it is the tropical fruit flavor that I considered juicy before the haze became a thing and I really enjoyed it.

I agree the King Citra - though good - was not great.

This last batch of Saint Thomas though - wow. Better than before. Incredible and much better than the KC.

Every palate will differ - that's the beauty of craft beer.

Just got back from my 2nd trip to FW (both in Sac).

Hot Chocolate: on nitro was amazing. Too bad I couldn't take any to go due to being nitro. Loved the flavors and body.

Pulp: after all the hype I guess I was hoping for a bit more...I think the Track 7 Sukahop/Mo'Suka are better. Still very nice.

I got a growler of King Citra and 3 crowlers of different beers. Will evaluate them later this weekend.

For a taproom that's so geared to dispensing large formats of beer to go I wish they had their own parking lot like most of the other breweries.

We are gonna have to agree to disagree. I find Pulp on a different tier than the T7 NE-style efforts. Not that I don't enjoy the T7 stuff, I just find Pulp to be far superior hitting the soft mouthfeel. And you just kill that hype talk, nothing to see here.

Just cracked another can of Pulp from the Thanksgiving release last night, it is holding up beautifully.

I like that the can art is appropriate for the name.

Won't be there for the can release, but I do like me some Galaxy Juice. I probably have weird tastes but my Fieldwork NE-style ranking is:

Orchard St > Galaxy Juice > Stump > Overripe! > Pulp > St. Monroe

    St Thomas
can be hazy depending on the batch, but I don't feel like it shares many characteristics with the others here.

With all the great beers they have had lately, I forgot about Hazy Train.

Will be stopping by on Monday for some + pulp.
