Fieldwork appreciation thread

Another easy release at Fieldwork. In and out at the Sacramento Tap Room with cans and a crowler. Just the usual lunch crowd with a few getting cans.

 

Yup. No issues at the Berkeley location as of 1:30 either. Tons of cans left.

 

nice... will be heading out there after this CM mess

 

At 1pm Berkeley had 45 cases left of the original 90 cases of GJ per the Instagram feed. So about half gone.

Napa has 10 cases as of 1:15pm

Sacramento has 11 cases as of 1:15pm

 

Just in case you're not maxing out on your allocation, you can hook me up with 1 bottle for the Vive la Tarte info. haha

 

haha... i don't even know if i'll have time to eat at vive if i'm to head over to the east bay before traffic gets bad

 

Yeah I'd try to exit out of there as soon as you can. I'm not an expert on outbound traffic but I've left around 3 and it was still ok. If you're not super hungry, you can get good pizza in North Berkeley at Gioia which is down the street on Gilman. There's also a Japanese fish market called Tokyo Fish Market on San Pablo south of Harrison that has rice bowls/bento, maki, and poke.

 

Cool yeah I think in Berk will definitely be the better play... have been craving Cheeseboard but I might give your place a try... poke sounds good too

 

The crust is substantially better at Gioia, though, it's not cheap. Slices are $4 each. Let me know if you're ISO Viking's Lament. I have an extra can if you want it.

 

Just eavesdropping on the conversation and just wanted to say thanks for listing out the restaurants in Berkeley, Squid. I'm always looking for good recommendations for places to eat near Fieldwork. Tokyo Fish Market sounds exquisite.

 

I have to be honest. I've been disappointed by a lot of my local eateries as they tend to be mediocre and somewhat expensive. That said, I've found a handful of decent spots. Tokyo Fish Market, for instance, is more impressive for its grocery/fish market qualities than prepared food, but it's worth visiting. If you're into deep dish pizza, Little Star on Solano is excellent and is comparable to what you'll find in Chicago. Super Super, on San Pablo, makes some decent banh mi, though their excessive use of their spread/aioli might throw you off if you're a purist.

 

I will be flying in Saturday at around noon and heading to Napa. Any chance there will be cans available at the Berkley or Napa locations if I stop in right away on my way north?

 

Per the Fieldwork Instagram they SOLD out of Galaxy Juice at all 3 locations by Thursday evening. So NO go on that one.

They are releasing Party Cove and Coconut Milk today at 11am. Iffy if those will last until Saturday afternoon. Party Cove is a new Tropical Sour Ale.

They did post that they are doing a "Second Chance" can sale on Saturday 2/18 at 11am in Berkeley only on a few cans from last week.

 

BACK to the Galaxy Juice cans for a minute. I didn't have time to try them yet.

But.....I just saw a few check ins on untappd last night that said a few cans may be off or slightly different then the previous batch?

Anyone try their new cans of GJ yet?

 

Couple of my friends had it last night on tap and were telling me it was off. Almost a Belgian yeast flavor. GJ is prob my favorite IPA from fieldwork so I'm going to very disappointed. They also weren't impressed with party cove

 

I'm really happy Fieldwork has calmed down after their first couple can releases...

 

opened a can last night and I definitely agree with your friends. I saw a couple of check-ins on untappd saying the same thing as well; one stated that they had gotten similar Belgian yeast flavors in the most recent batch of King Citra.

 

I saw your post on Matt Bs topic in the Sac Beer Enthusiast FB page. Matt B even had a drain pour pic....

Still mostly 4+ rating checkins on untappd, other then the Two people that got the Belgian taste.

Some just saying it is still good, but just a bit different then the last batch. ???

 

I usually stop at The Star in Oakland on the way home from my Fieldwork/Rare Barrel trips. Same place, different name. Picked up a pizza last night after the Trillium event at RB....just never made that trip in 5pm traffic before though. That was something else I tell ya

 

Got to open a Feb 2017 Galaxy Juice can. Different from the December ish 2016 batch for sure.

Something is off. Not sure exactly.

Anyone else have feedback?
