How was Galaxy Juice on draft?

So I opened a can and am getting a little stone fruit in the nose. Getting some orange zest in the front with a touch of grapefruit bitterness in the finish. Fairly dry. If I recall correctly, it's been less bitter with more citrus/tropical fruit in the past. I would say this is not one of the better batches that I've tasted.

As it warms up, I'm getting a slight brett/sac brux trois quality. It's not unappealing and I kind of like it, but seems off for the style especially relative to previous batches.

Opened up a can of Galaxy Juice on Monday night. Gave it 5 days since release. Less harshness and a bit more juice. Better.

Going to save my other GJ cans for another week, then try again.

I had a pour of King Citra at the Sac tasting room on Saturday and it tasted similar imo. Didn't really taste much like other Citra DIPA's I've had in the past(King Sue, Citra, etc.) On the other hand, Pulp was absolutely fantastic!

Yeah, this last PULP IPA batch was fantastic. Wish I filled a few more growlers up before the weekend.

Fieldwork has a new Double IPA. Hazy NE style. 9%. Anyone try it yet?

    "Grove Stand"

Anyone have suggestions on where to find Fieldwork cans in the South Bay? San Jose, etc.?

Jay: I'm pretty sure they are only available at the taprooms so for you that would be Berkeley. I don't think the San Gabriel location is open yet.

I'm curious how this Grove Stand compares against King Citra. There's a good chance tomorrow night I'll know. I wasn't able to make it to the Sacramento room last weekend and according to their site Galaxy Juice is still available. This Grove Stand isn't listed so maybe it'll go up later today.

What are you looking for and when will you be in the South Bay? If you need Fieldwork shit, holler. I live a block away.

What would you all recommend right now that I can get in a crowler?

Had a coworker bring me back a King Citra crowler last week and I really *really* enjoyed it, but her husband is still out there for work and she says he's willing to swing by and grab me another crowler for when he flies home Sunday.

Should I go with Galaxy Juice or Grove Stand? Anything else worth trying in lieu?

Party Cove got my eye too, as I'm a sour guy, but not sure I can pass on the hops. Seems like GJ might have been a weaker batch this time around so I'm leaning towards Grove Stand?

    Cheers.

Santa Clara Liquors. Be ready to pay $10-12 bucks a can!

Since you are a Hockey fan of the Finnish Flash, I got to help you out here.

I would go Grove Stand DIPA just to try it. The Galaxy Juice was just ok this batch as documented above. Coconut Milk DIPA is also a solid choice as well.

Most reviews of the new Party Cove are "good but not great.".

I had Grove Stand yesterday and thought it was FAN TAS TIC. Didn't drink like a 9% beer, either. I think they knocked it out of the park with this one, folks.

Just cracked my first can, WAY for sure off imo. Not diggin it to be honest. Definetly got a Belgian like taste which isn't bad but not like the original.

Yeah the Grove Stand is fantastic. It's the most tropical beer I've ever had. It's literally hard to believe there isnt pineapple and guava etc in it. It's the real deal. I'd have a hard time choosing between this and King Citra.

I also tried Coconut Milk. This one is a swing and a miss. With so many incredible IPA's there's no reason to mess around with one mucked up with adjuncts

I think coconut is love / hate. To me it does a remarkable job of balancing authentic coconut flavor with citrusy hops. The lactose doesn't turn it into a novelty on the order of Tired Hands Milkshake series ... which don't really even taste like IPAs anymore. I can see why people don't like it but if citrusy DIPA + coconut appeals to people, this is really well done.

They are really going "All IN" on the Galaxy hops. Head Brewer/Co Owner Alex Tweet is in Australia looking at more Galaxy Hops right now.

And now this for the next CAN release on 3/3. GALAXY Sauce DIPA.

Just hope it is better then the last batch of Galaxy Juice.

The last King Citra cans were awful, Grove Stand is great.

Had both Galaxy Juice and King Citra last week on tap in San Jose and was underwhelmed. Is the consensus that these were weak batches?

The King Citra cans can't even be described as a weak batch. Those cans were SO off. Floaties in them and it didn't taste anything like any of the previous batches of it.
