Damn, was hoping for Grove Stand or Saint Monroe. Super Saint Thomas was really good the last time I had it though.

I really don't follow breweries outside my area closely enough so thanks for the heads up on all of this. My birthday is the 31st so I'm planning to head up to SF for the day for the usual suspects(Cellarmaker/City Beer/Toronado) before heading to the east bay for the hotel for the night. Thinking I'll pop over early on the 1st to see what cans they have available still since they're closing at 5 on the 31st. Another double can release on the 2nd means I might stay 2 nights in the East Bay, which is cool because I've never had a chance to check out the spots over there yet. Current list of places I'm wanting to check out: Fieldwork, Rare Barrel, Temescal, Faction, Drake's Dealership, Beer Revolution

Any recommendations for SF/East Bay for food/beer/etc? My wife will be with me and while she doesn't mind tagging along to breweries with me, finding some great food where I can get a pint or two is always nice for her, or anything cool to do nearby.

Great photo on the cans for Painted Gold Pale Ale.

Looks like we will have to wait on more info on the new DIPA Eastside Motel.

Where'd they release this info? I only check their instagram account.

East Side Motel is a great name.

I got the release information from their newletter. They do a job of sending one out every couple of weeks. When they released Galaxy Sauce, they let newletter subscribers go to the taproom and pickup cans the day before the release.

There aren't a ton of restaurants that I know of with great food and beer selections, but here are some of my recommendations. There is a place close to the Rare Barrel called Longbranch, good taplist and tasty food - it is pricey though. There isn't much that I know of by Fieldwork. If you drive to downtown Berkeley there is always Eureka! It's a chain burger restaurant, but I've always enjoyed the food and they always have a great draft selection.

There are a ton of good spots in Oakland that are close to Temescal Brewing. My favorite spot over there is Burma Superstar, even though it is usually a shit show. Might be a good idea to order takeout and take it with you to the brewery. Cholita Linda is also a good choice if you feel like Mexican.

What about great food and passable beer selection?

Agreed. I thought the comparison between selling "California wine" in Vermont and "Vermont beer" in California was also kind of silly. I'm not a brewer, so I speak with some ignorance, but I'm pretty sure wine making depends much more on the region than beer. Two of the same grape varietal, grown just a couple hundred feet away from each other but in different soil, can yield very different wines. Imagine, then, how much a wine can differ if it's grapes were grown several hundred miles away. With perhaps some corner cases, I just don't see location as an integral part of the beer brewing process.

I'm surprised the TTB approved that to be honest. I've gotten turned down for less egregious things

I thought Shaun was a little overly aggressive. The beer was a one off and as FW said how were they supposed to comply when that was the case. The beer had come and gone at that point.

Exactly. What is Fieldwork going to do, invent a time machine and go back and changed it???

It was a very small can run. It is long gone. Waste of time.

I just hope FW finds some way to change up the name on Bad Conduct. Add VERMONT Maple Syrup to the name or something...haha... Or call in Vermont Fuck Off Bad Conduct or something.

This whole thing could've been resolved if fieldwork just said "oh, next time we'll put Vermont-Style on the label, our bad". This is very similar to Lambic-inspired or Methode Gueuze work-arounds we've seen from other breweries, not to mention it's common to respect the origins in other alcohol related areas such as bourbon and scotch.

They could go the subtle route and name one of their beers Society & Solitude #69
