why is this one rated so low (along with other fieldwork) on untappd compared to treehouse/trillium/monkish? ive put this one next to the best of the best and this one is up there

Some yeast off flavors reminiscent of Belgian pales if I remember correctly.

Not for my palate, almost has a bit of metallic element in the finish. Now Bean Machine is a different story...Holy f@ck can these guys put out delicious brown ales!

Yeah bean machine's pretty solid. There were a lot available yesterday in Berkeley. Folks just aren't into browns. Pastry stouts on the other hand...

You know... with some breweries reclassifying barleywines as imperial brown ales, and the common knowledge that old IIPA & IIIPA's turn into barleywines, they could theortically market it as and IPA, just a super duper old one with coffee...

Fieldwork must have upped production somehow.

Now 3 new cans for release this weekend after 5 different cans last weekend. Plus supplying 4 tap rooms.

Sea Farmer IPA cans are back. Goes along with Green Rest and Galaxy Sauce cans.

to do growler fills they need to produce beer onsite right? so technically they have several different breweries technically, maybe they are brewing in more than one location?

also the Berkeley brewery is pretty damn big, maybe they werent brewing at max capacity yet?

regardless im happy lol, altho more broke. im going to start buying 4 of everything instead of my usual 6 at this rate tho.

Does anyone else taste diacetyl off flavors in virtual planetoid? I had it on draft when I picked up cans sunday but drinking it out of a can right now its almost undrinkable with how much I taste savory / diacetyl flavors. I tasted a similar thing with 1 or 2 of my dobis cans. Are my taste buds fucked or is anyone on the same page?

Cans are not the savior people think they are. I actually think Cellarmaker tasted better bottled, although that may be batch variation. But no comparison against actual draught.

I've been loving the Virtual Planetoid and wishing is gotten more. I've had no quality problems there.

I thought my first Dobis can was a little off - almost TOO Citra-y (for lack of a better term) if that's possible. But the last two have been much better.

Same here. My Virtual Planetoid cans have been GREAT. No off flavors.

I'm not sure if it's my brain playing tricks on me or not - but with some of the cans I have picked up from both Fieldwork and Cellarmaker - I have enjoyed my pours of them a week past canning date more so than the ones I drink the day they are canned.

I'm not a brewer or one to understand the science of these things all that much - but part of me thinks there's such a thing as too fresh of a beer coming out of a bottle or a can, and I seem to enjoy the flavor more like 5-7 days from canning, rather than popping it that day...

Again - no idea if that has any root in things making sense or not, and I don't have much of a sample size.

The beers definitely change (even on draught) with time. Most Cellarmaker beers I love day of release, but there have been a few instances where time does it better. For instance, I didn't really like Juice Gymnastics on day 1. But I happened to be at Cellarmaker a week later the last day they had it on tap, and I thought it was fantastic. Better than Day 1 tap, better than Day 4 bottle. And better than week 4 bottle. (ie. all the times I've had it.)

I'm happy you mentioned this because I had the same experience with 1 of my Dobis cans. The other was great as usual though. I haven't experienced this with Fieldwork but I thought I was going crazy with the Dobis.

Was at Berkeley today, and I must say virtual Planetoid just keeps growing on me. Had to buy two crowlers for my trip to Mexico tomorrow lol. Eastside Motel and Green Rest were also really good.

However, there must be something intentional about the yeasty flavor in Galaxy sauce. Back during beer week I thought maybe the batch was bad. This reminds me of the a couple of the Treehouse beers I had recently. A guy sent me 8 different hazies from them and two I just couldn't like despite the hype due to the yeastiness. Guess this beer just isn't for me...

damn that's a bummer to hear, hopefully i like galaxy sauce, but i know exactly what our talking about. i had green recently and couldn't get the hype behind it, wasn't for me. win some and lose some i guess, everyone's palate is different . right now eastside motel is putting me on cloud nine. i might have to grab some crowlers of that before it's gone
