Got a few cans of Overripe! that I'm pretty excited to taste.

Had Bloomsday earlier today and thoroughly enjoyed it. Yet again, while the beer had a noticeable fruitiness, it was the other flavors that impressed me the most. I usually don't like floral notes in IPAs but here it was restrained and complementary to the rest of the beer. I'll have to open my second can to be sure, but I got some earthy notes that I usually find in beers made with dark berries (especially blueberries). That said, it was very subtle, and I could be misidentifying the flavor. The mouthfeel was fluffy and awesome.

Very glad that Fieldwork has somehow avoided the shitshow that seems to follow every IPA release. I dropped by at 5:00 or so and there were quite a few cases left. I guess most people are just looking unrestrained juice bombs. Admittedly, I can really enjoy those kinds of IPAs, but with just about anything I need variety or I get bored.

love the vineyard graphic. And it's in time for harvest.

I found OverRipe! a bit disappointing if only because the description of "strawberry banana yogurt" wasn't very obvious in the beer. And that's what I was most excited about. It's subtly reminiscent of that flavor but only if you were actually looking for strawberry banana yogurt.

I put Overripe in the category of Fieldwork beers that taste good enough but lack the luster that makes beers like Destination Unknown, Pulp, and King Citra stand out. There are a number of beers in this category including Greenrest, Bloomsday, and Broken Clouds. However, sometimes a batch from a tier 2 beer stands out and temporarily gets elevated to tier 1 status. Batches of In Bloom and Grovestand have had this happen. My opinion of course.

I'm seriously regretting only getting two cans of Virtual Planetoid. It's so pungent. Might be my favorite IPA I've had by any brewery.

It's a great beer. Definitely a Tier 1 beer for me.

I cracked open a Destination Unknown can last night and it blew me away. I wasn't crazy about that beer when I first tried it, so decided to sit on my cans. It is drinking like straight orange/where pineapple juice. One of the best beers I've had in recent months.

damn dude you working off a spreadsheet? lol j/k

seriously tho have you thought about spreadsheeting your info? would be nice if we had a release sheet the way tree house fans do, to see when things have been released.

Haha it never even crossed my mind. It would be fun to read the data to see if there are any trends/patterns that form. I would probably contribute to an existing google spreadsheet but I don't really have the time to maintain it though.

Prime example that each palate is unique... I personally had to check my notes as the cans I grabbed in Sac tasted strikingly different to the draught pours I had in Berkeley in April. Going to let them sit, as right now I'd much rather drink down my Moonraker cans.

surprised tiger uppercut didn't get more praise on this thread - didn't get to try the cans but had it on draft a few times and thought it was great

I didn't get a chance to try the most recent batch. I didn't have a lot of time that day and decided to stick to getting KC cans as well as a half pour of it and leaving immediately after.

Speaking of batch variation, having week ago batch of Green Rest now at Toronado. I previously said this was my fav Fieldwork.

But this one lacks that pungent dankness that the last batch had. I mean, it's fine. Pretty good juicy take on Simcoe overall. It just lacks the depth of the one I loved.

.... and secondly, I've had St. Thomas 3x before and it wasn't hazy, but the most current batch is :astonished:. It's fine, but it doesn't taste like the non-hazy batches. I'm really surprised at how much it's changed.

I foolishly disn't taste this batch before getting a growler filled...Needless to say I was shocked by the first glass. Still enjoyable beer, but not what I was expecting.

Since it was so HOT in Sac this weekend, only hit 1 can of King Citra.

While the last batch was mind blowing, this current batch was still excellent. Great on the nose, then smooth. Got a little bit of the alcohol at 8.7% when I was drinking it outside in 110 degree heat...lol....
