How difficult to obtain was the 2012 Fifty Fity Eclipse Elijah Craig 12, and what was the cost? I'd be curious about other vintages, too, but I loved that one and would like to possibly acquire more.

Does/would it normally go for something closer to limited shelf stuff, brewery-only releases, somewhere in between, etc.?

    Thanks for the help.

Not hard at all. Shelf beer, distributed widely. Approx $30. You can probably nab it with limited shelf beer.

I bought one off the shelf on Saturday for $28.

The most recent vintages (11, 12) were distributed and probably trade with other limited shelf beer. The 09 used to trade for rarer brewery-only stuff but people seem pretty down on Eclipse unless its PVW or something like that.

Like everyone else has said, limited (or not even that limited) shelf beers will get it done. They're on the shelves still in many places. I traded a couple of them away: one for a brewery-only, but high bottle limit release and one for some limited availability locals. Shouldn't be too tough to land one.

I put up an ISO for the 20 yr old, didn't come up with much, but I think a 12 would be much easier.

The 2012 20-year was only available at the brewery, so the subset of people who have it is a lot smaller.

I saw that! Did you drink them with us that night at Adam's, or did you miss them? Both were really good, but the 12-year was my favorite beer of the night by a good bit.

The 20 was a bottle I brought, and Adam supplied the 12. Loved the 20, figs , raisins, plums dark fruit. Really a 1st for me away from chocolate and Coffee. The 12 , more bourbon, maybe better with a few years on it, but I'm far from a stout connoisseur.
