So i stopped by a local shop and saw some of the BA variants there, a couple from 2012 and some from 2013. What was the retail on these? Also, is there a guide to tell me which color wax was which barrel? I know there are a ton of variants so wasn't sure if that was made available. I might buy one or so to try, anyone have a preference on the one they like most? The price is holding me back, but not sure how far off retail it was. They were selling $30 a bottle which seemed pretty high. Thanks all

$30-$35 is normal retail pricing. It's pricey beer.

Eclipse is a love/hate beer around here, the hate mostly being the price. Personally, I can't help but buy at least one or two every year. I always like the Rittenhouse when they do one. The Bernheim Wheat Whiskey and Elijah Craig 20 from 2012 were great. I say pick one that sounds good to you and try it, see if it's worth the money for you next time.

Highest I've seen was 32. Lowest 28. Picked up a 2013 java that I am saving for a special occasion! Cheers!

I really need to make an effort to try one of these.

Thanks all - good to hear. I'm gonna pick around and see if they have any of the coffee ones, those would be the one's i'd go after first. It seems Evan Williams has a decent rating as well, might have to go there since i know they have that one.

If you're talking Caliente, the Java Coffee is gone.

Oh, alright then! Yep it's a beer shop over on my end of the state…was just guessing you were in pittsburgh. I definitely recommend the java coffee!! Best of luck on the search.

Of course the good one is the one i wouldn't be able to find haha. For the high price tag i'm not sure i'll even grab one unless its a coffee.

I went to the brewery in Truckee about 2 months ago & they had Rum Barrel available so I bought a bottle there for $27 so yea $30 is standard for retail

Glad to see all this love for the Java. I have two and am growing increasingly excited to crack one.
Also, price wise, paid like $34/bottle and that seemed to be the standard in the San Diego area when i bought them. (checked a couple bottle shops to compare)

We don't see them in Texas, but on a recent beercation I picked up several bottles (2012 Elijah Craig, 13 Elijah Craig, Makers Mark, Java, Evan Williams and a mystery that I can tell if it's white or beige) and I've been happy with what I've tried thus far; java, EW and 12 EC. Like a poster above stated, get one that sounds good and try it. In terms of value, you're always going to find people that aren't willing to pay for it and I get that, it's pricey. I just knew I wasn't going to see these again and decided to bite the bullet so to speak. Glad I did.

The Evan Williams was really good, if you see that one, I'd snap it up. I've heard good things about the EC, as well.

Java coffee was brewery only, right, not distro'd?

Found mine in a bottle shop... unless the shop was just putting out a big brewery haul at a price markup? Could be, who knows
