???? You do realize that the $18 price isn't the new pricing for these beers. The prices listed are a "futures" price, that can only be obtained by paying for the beer months in advance (at least half in April it sounds like, with the balance paid in October. Pick-up/delivery to take place in December). While I haven't ever bought futures of beer, I have in the past bought futures of wine. Typically, the MSRP is somewhat higher than the futures price, though that can vary. If I had to speculate, my guess is that the "new" price for this beer will be in the $22 to $24 range, for those who wait to buy the beer in normal distribution.

So they don’t ship to NY? I couldn’t find info about shipping.

NY is not in the list of "California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico" as far as I can tell.

Did someone pee in your coffee today or what? Or is it just impossible for you to make any sort of comment without an insult or snide swipe at the previous poster?

"Actual bottles will release on Friday, December 6th, and they now ship to the states of California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico.

A 50% deposit is due at the time of purchase to reserve your allocation, with the remaining 50%, plus the full sales tax and any applicable shipping due in October.

this is the bottom of the post that he quoted as he asked the question.

he could not find a thing that he already found.

i thought that was kinda humorous.

sorry if I offended you John, but please chill out with attacking me.

It's a long thread. Sometimes people don't read everything in it. Also, despite what the post states, Eclipse beers are available through regular distribution in many more states. So his inquiry was somewhat understandable I thought. Just saying it might have been easier to just point to the OP or the website announcement rather then the comment you posted.

I've read all of your posts in this thread so far, and you come across as a bit "bristly" I think. No big deal, but it sort of of feels like you have some sort of chip on your shoulder for some reason.

theres a few stores near me thats selling these at $19.... not movin

are any of these as good as they used to be?

instead of going to 500ml they should just put it in cans, they would fly off the shelf

I've been to every Eclipse party, and they're just as good as ever.

The issue isn't with the quality. They're just the highest cost per oz stout on shelves with other comparable quality ones at lower prices.

Oh yeah, my grocery store lowered the every day price on KBS to 4pk/$17. When I was in Wisconsin in early summer I was buying Central Waters 4pk -bals for between $12-16.

17-22oz of Eclipse at the same price - twice the price on a shelf is a shoulder shrug.

Gotta recoup the cost of those insane barrels though, people act as if they are aging them in Cutty Sark or Seagram's barrels. The aging in Bookers barrels amongst the rest would warrant a higher asking price so I'm not surprised. I never saw them so for those who had them I hope they were good lol

Let's not overlook that they've aged Eclipse in Jack Daniels, Evan Williams, Makers Mark, Christian Bros and Rebel Yell ( i.e. cheaper) barrels while maintaining the highest price in the industry for those bottles too.

I wouldn't exactly say Four Roses, Buffalo Trace, Woodford etc are premium barrels either (even if I love both products, the bourbon and the Eclipse beer aged in it).

When they age in 'premium' barrels, their beers cost $35 or more (see PVW or EC20).

At the end of the day the cooperage makes oak barrels for Buffalo Trace. Why should the cost be different? The barrel is the same whether it houses Old Fitzgerald or Pappy.

Simple economics: Because the demand is higher.

But they're not just using a fresh barrel so the quality (whether actual or perceived) of the prior liquid resident influences the demand for the used barrel

Is it though? I imagine many more people are looking for standard Buffalo Trace products simply for the taste/cost. Just because the perceived perception of demand of PVW doesn't mean it outweighs the demand for Eagle Rare. There's such a finite amount of people willing to spend the money on overpriced PVW juice versus regular Buffalo Trace products.
