Are you sure that is true? I thought Java was one that was not being sold and it was said to be sold out at the party. Maybe it was ec12? Same color wax almost. I would double check that because Java was supposed to be a party exclusive.......guess I am wrong on that. Saw another post that also said java was distributed.

I'm a huge fan of 50/50, but after your initial first try of Eclipse I highly advise anyone to get on their mailing list to get access to their futures program. I would suggest trying any of the EC variants over any of the other ones. I've found those to be outstanding. I've tried this year's High West, EV, and Maker's Mark and I'll have to say they don't hold up to the EC variants. And yes, I agree that $30 + for a bomber is pretty steep. If you get that EC and like it, then get on that futures mailing list.

Not really worth it. Get your friends to buy one, get them to share it with you.

I couldn't finish the bottle of Elijah Craig Eclipse I purchased. Drain poured the last 1/3. And the only reason I bought it was because a liquor store near me actually had a groupon deal. $15 for $30 worth of beer. So, I got my eclipse for $15 (+ tax) and I still regretted it.

I tried the four roses variant last night & was not impressed. I dont find the price point to be fair. I was gonna trade for some other variants but backed off after trying that one.

I paid $26 for the Elijah Craig 12, and I think that is worth it to try it once but we will see if I would buy it again

Eclipse is a great line of beers, but the price is off-putting. In previous years I bought all the variants I could, which left me with some decent beers but a huge dent in my bank account. Now, I know my favorites and stick with those.

Elijah Craig 20 year (white wax) and Java Coffee (lavender wax) are really the only two I will buy when I see them. Evan Williams (black wax) is great but I've had my fill and will pass from now on. Pappy is great but not my particular style. The party-only Vanilla this year is phenomenal, but probably won't see distribution until 2015 if they decide to roll it out.

Long answer long and reiterated by others here, Eclipse is worth the price for certain variants. They're all worth trying, but if price is a concern, focus on the few variants that are held in highest regard.
