Anyone know which shops carry FiftyFifty in SD? Not much info on the website or response from their distributor.

Steep. Got one in the cellar. Maybe I'll try that before deciding to drop that much on a bottle. Thanks for the info.

Drink it now and then replenish. They don't tend to get any better with age, imo.

eclipses haven't been very impressive in the past. they seem to have jumped from $22 to $35 in only a few years; save your money and trade for some bcbs. higher quality.

the brewer got on my ass for suggesting this a while back. run for your life!!!

I'm not saying they're bad by any means, and I'm also not saying they fall off a cliff and get bad quickly, but that said, I don't think they get significantly better over time. They mellow out a bit over the first year and can improve a bit depending on the barrel, but they're so balanced and drinkable from the get-go, they tend to just kind of fade (plus a few of the 09s I've been opening are starting to show signs of oxidation, others are fine. Hopefully this is a problem with there old bottling line and won't be an issue going forward).

this kind of optimism genuinely amazes me. people complain about lost abbey's years-long qc issues but will easily give a pass to 50/50 beers which cost the same per oz.

I've generally really enjoyed the older ones I've had. The pink-wax PVW was among the best beers I've ever had, I really loved it. I think the EC '09 was in a similar state. So I intend to keep a few of the varieties I liked fresh around to see what they do as well. The difficulty is that there are so many, I wish they'd reduce the number in the future, but the general pattern seems to be the opposite...

What can I say, I'm an optimistic guy. I never stopped buying Lost Abbey either.

$35 is high retail. The LA distributor is delivering to stores tomorrow. I am assuming they will be delivering in San Diego around the same time.

Best Damn Beer Shop, in their email talking about the Westy release, said they'd do the same for the 50/50 release the next time it came around, so look for them to be sending out something soon.
