I did a search and I see that people have filed FedEx claims in the past.

I sent a box; it was damaged in transit, reboxed, and returned to me. Some things were a loss and are missing from the box.

I filed a claim listing the contents as "Blood / plasma / liquid specimens" (thinking yeast samples should fit in the latter).

Assuming FedEx took photos of the damaged contents, I can't just make up what was in the box. But I don't have receipts for them. So what is the best way to file supporting documentation?

    Thanks for any advice.

Agreed, OP maybe it will work for you but seems like a lost cause, now if FedEx 'lost' the box in transit or something weird where they didn't know the package was beer, maybe then, but it seems its violates their terms of service you are SOL, kind of like the guy reporting stolen weed to the police.

I'd let it pass, if your claiming Haz Mats like blood or plasma you might get into trouble as well, I would think alerting someone of a potential Bio hazard spill would trigger an alarm of massive proportions.

My only experience with filing a claim with FedEx is that I filled out their form and submitted it. The next page that came up asked me to provide docs/receipts. I thought I was SOL and logged out of their site, but then a week or 2 later I received a check in the mail. I guess they really didn't need receipts.

Edit - I think I chose the glassware or dinner plates category. Something that's breakable.

This is exactly what is in the process of happening to me. Fedex lost my box that I sent out for a BIF. I've spoken to them a few times and said I sent "food items from home (I live in CT)" to my friend who moved to Texas. The only item I was specific about was maple syrup, thinking just in case the box had a busted bottle or something. I delared a value of $100. The case closes Friday.

    Then what?

When my box got destroyed by UPS, I just found a receipt template online and typed out everything that was in my box. I said they were collectible bottles and then used abbreviated names making sure there was no mention of alcohol on the receipt and then typed the value out next to the names. It didn't work, because they denied my claim via Terms of Service since I packed the bottles myself. Therefore, they were not responsible for the bottles being broken, because I didn't package them securely enough, despite the fact they did not even say how the box got damaged. They just threw my shit away. Sucks. Good luck though!
