In two weeks I will be driving from CT to the SC/GA border near Augusta to drop off a car. I won't be down there for a long time but I'll have a chance to pick up some goodies along the way (I78 to I81 to I77 mainly). I have to fly back but I'll be bringing a 12 bottle styro shipper with me to ship back home. So what should I grab that is tasty and unavailable in New England? Any recommended bottle shops off of these highways or around Augusta? I know for sure I want to grab some Foothills stuff but I'm other wise a South Atlantic beer noob. Is cigar city available? Thanks!

Also I may be able to bring down some New England goodies if any BA's are interested!

Brawley's in Charlotte isn't too far off the interstate and should give you a few bottle options from Foothills.

Grab any Olde Hickory that you can find. Great brewery - available in NC. You may find some Jai Alai and Maduro in GA. No CCB in NC/SC. If you are close to Greenville, SC - stop in Greenville Beer Exchange. I've only been to Charleston Beer Exchange, their sister store, but hear good things. You may be able to get ahold of some COAST and Westbrook there.

One vote to not waste money and shipping space on foothills

Really depends on how far you are willing to go off your path to get beer in all honesty... As stated GBX is a good stop if you don't mind the extra driving.

Interesting. I was going to say the same thing except for Old Hickory.

If you think Olde Hickory has nothing worth shipping, you aren't drinking Olde Hickory.

I can understand that sentiment. None of their regular lineup does much for me. Maybe Imperial Stout or Irish Walker but neither are exceptional.

I do think Irish Walker is the best of their stuff.
