Filtering Beer Trouble

    Whats your kegging process? Do you use "corny" kegs, or something different?

    I ask because I think you could probably do this:

    Ferment for 2 weeks.
    That's something I'll do (and I'm doing)

    Drop temp down in Primary after 2 week mark.
    I've checked temp curve of my last batch I've put in cold chamber. It took 36 hrs for 90 liters of beer inside fermentor, to cool down from 18 to 3 Centigrade.

    give 2-3 days at cold temp, and filter transfer to keg.
    That I can do.

    Add gelatin to keg, and cold condition for one more week, while carbonating. You could then, pull off the first couple pints of gelatin/yeast from the bottom of the keg, and transfer it to another keg.
    Now here is something of concern for me. When used gelatin in my previous (now crystal clear) batch, sludge at the bottom of conical fermentor was so thick that it couldn't flow through bottom valve! I had to decant all the beer through upper valve (what is normal procedure) and then to wash coagulated stuff at the bottom of fermentor with high pressure water. It was THICK! Just thinking what would happen if the same thing happens inside keg, and I'm using 30 liters European S style kegs. There is no way to open it and try to wash it like with corny kegs. I'm washing them through high pressure pump, connected to coupler, which rinse them with some detergent and followed with water. That's my concern re this step.

    That could have you around 4 weeks, give or take a couple days from start to finish. Beer will clear up, condition, carbonate all at the same time.

    It is great time saver plan, I'll just need to check how to go around that possibility of clogging my kegs with gelatin.
