Finback (2019)

Made my first trip up to Finback today and was pleasantly surprised. Enjoyed a few small pours and got stuff to go. What Ive had so far Ive really enjoyed.

 

FWIW BA Hawk & Whale bottles are dropping next Saturday.

 

Did anyone pick up rainbow cookie? How is it?

 

I stopped in yesterday for the release and was pleasantly surprised by Rainbow Cookie. It is exactly what I imagine a pastrytown beer to taste like (in a good way).

Of the bottles released yesterday, I actually liked the base version between than the chocolate/vanilla one. Solid offering either way and I gladly took some home. I think Finback gets overlooked sometimes because of its location.

 

Nice. I have up to a 4 pack coming my way via a friend. I'll take the full 4 pack then. I haven't had too many pastry stouts due to OH's pricing, so I'm pretty excited to try this. Heinous was fantastic. I was hoping Wretched would see local distro, so I have to second @NewmansOwn's questioning why we don't see it here.

 

Heinous was fantastic. That beer way more my speed as far as flavored imperial stouts go, vs a lot of en vogue pastry stouts that are just too much

 

Had Splash over the weekend. Another fantastic DIPA.

Can't wait for the newest releases: Granfallon, Born Swiming, and Rainbow cookie to hit Mass.

Interestingly, I just noticed the 2018 BA BQE from the 12/15 release is on tap at Armsby Abby in Worcester Ma. I am dying to try some of the BA stouts. I think my dinner plans are made.

 

Anyone know if they sold out of Kane bottles?

No mention on what the limits will be. Wondering how quickly these bottles will sell out. Regular H&W was incredible.

 

Its 4pp at $19 per bottle.

 

Got it wrong actually, its 6pp not 4pp

 

Last time I was at Finback the bartender told me they're brewing 60 barrel batches of the stouts now instead of the 40 they were doing. I think that's why the last few bottles lasted a week or so.

 

man i wish this place was closer to central jersey and where I am. I never make it there and none of my buddies do either for a pick up

 

We've all got our fingers crossed that when the Brooklyn spot opens they'll do split releases.

 

Anyone know if H&W is expected to last into the afternoon?

Maybe someday we NJ BAs can get 4-5 guys to do a run together. I’ve never made it to Finback either. Of course, personally I have a narrow window of mostly during the summer when there’s no goddamn kids’ sports during the weekends.
