Finback Brewery (2018)

The information Finback posted about the availability on 12/18 seemed pretty inaccurate. I called a number of those places on the 18th and they said they did not have it and were not quite sure when they would be getting it. Kept chasing at a few places - saw some got it days later and even into that next week. Oh well.

 

I went to the Blocktoberfest in Clinton Hill and met these guys--tried to grab a t shirt but they didn't have my size. Gave them my info and they said they would touch base soon. I didn't get my hopes up, I knew they were a new brewery and probably weren't gonna give it a second thought. Got an email a few days later saying my size was back ordered. Long story short, they made sure to keep me posted when it came in and even sent me a nice bottle opener "for being so patient". The guys have been to Hops Hill a bunch of times and seem to be really good people--Hops Hill had an Imperial Stout Night and their BQE was on tap next to some very well known imperial stouts and it was the clear favorite.

 

The Whole Foods were supposed to get them but apparently the beer was never set up in system so it couldnt be received in their computer system so they were refused. Same issue with the Vanilla Bourbon County.

 

Has anyone tried their Smoke Detection? They had bottles for sale at Good Beer today.

 

I really enjoyed it. Nice and smoky. I think it was pretty low ABV

 

Tried their beers for the first time today at the brewery. Tried the IPA, Cat Love DIPA, Double Sess(ion), and En Varano. Impressed with what I tried and am sure will be going back. Only issue is that the place is not heated so is freezing. Something I think they might need to address.

 

FYI my local bottle shop had BA BQE today--first time i have seen it there and i go fairly regularly. I think some might still be out there.

 

Where would that be? Going to brooklyn tomorrow to eat at Fette Sau and walk over to Barcade for the Founders event.

Never had BA or original BQE, very eager to try.

 

Whole Foods Bowery. There was only one bottle left though as I was leaving. Earlier in the thread someone said that WF had rejected the initial delivery or something along those lines, so some of the other WF might have some in as well.

 

I like WF Bowery but they seem to be screwing up a lot as of late. This is only about a month after they told me it would be available.

 

True, but this screwup helped me out so I'm okay with it!

FYI last bottle is gone. Stopped by again to pick up a couple other things and they said it sold almost immediately after I had left.

How much was WF charging for the bottle of BA BQE?

 

I believe it was 18.99 (that or 17.99), don't remember exactly. Just got excited to see it haha, and knew it wasn't a huge markup (I think they were $16 from finback?). They also had smoke detection for 10.99

Anyone else seen about BA BQE? BeerMenus is no help unfortunately.

 

They only made like 30 cases total. Stores got 1 per I think. So I doubt it'll go on there cuz it's so limited. I got mine at deciccos last wk. Unless they're holding the cases, it'll probably be hard to find. They had a screenshot of the places getting cases on their fb I believe though if you scroll down a little.
