Their IG had an @ for Wild East Brewing... Anyone check them out?

I would have never thought 10 years ago Gowanus would become a world class beer hub.

Middle of June and no Smooth Beats.

THIS AGGRESSION WILL NOT STAND, MAN.

@Tallerboy I did my first stewarding gig at a Wild East-hosted homebrewing competition back in February (what now seems like years ago). The taproom was still under construction but they had their beers on for pours and the three or four I tried were great.

Funnier yet is try telling somebody 10 years ago that the Hudson Valley is gonna be home to one of the best and most vibrant beer scenes on the planet.

Hudson Valley is very pretty, the Gowanus Canal is literally a toxic dump. So many breweries like to put pictures of the local water on their labels and wax poetically about it, that's a no go for every brewery down here.

I get that, but I wasn't talking aesthetics. I'm looking at it as nothing existed in the HV then but Keegan (and maybe Clemson Bros? IDK when they started) so telling somebody "this area will rival Portland OR one day" would have gotten you laughed out of the room.

Does Captain Lawrence count or is that White Plains and not what we're calling "Hudson Valley Proper"?

Yeah man but Gowanus is a toxic canal and nothing existed there either. Also isn’t the attraction of Portland (or any city with a vibrant scene) the ability to walk/public transport easily to a number of places. I love a lot of the breweries in HV but it’s not really apples to apples

Westchester ain't the Hudson Valley, it just the North Bronx, 6th borough of sorts. You can visit Capt Lawrence on one swipe, it would take a awhile but $2.75 will get you there.

All if NYS has benefitted from the more relaxed laws of onsite draft sales. Also the PNW was lousy with breweries, so if you were cutting your teeth there, it made sense to open a brewery in an underserved place when you went your own way.

Speaking of Capt Lawrence, I used to go to the OG Pleasantville location, and drink samples all afternoon. Legally you could have something like 3 4oz pours. It would just become whatever, just throw money in the tip jar and keep getting more "samples".

Goddamn the Sabro is drinking real nice right now- in addition to the coconut getting lots of overripe tropical fruit. Loving it.

I get all those great flavors, but there's also a lurking weird solvent alcohol note, especially there when it's cold.

Also if I have Brainalyzer after any other NEIPA, the hop profile comes off super oniony.

Anyone try the latest batch of visible spectrum?

100% spot on with the Brainalyzer comment. Ignore @jrnyc’s advice at your own peril. If this had an OH label on it, it would be a 4.5-4.6 on Untappd

It's good. Not as mango-juicy as the first batch, but none of the astringency that showed up a bit in the second batch. For sure worth the money! Now I'm very curious about the new mango-peach gose...

The double sabro is disappointing - very much like OH’s version. Has a rubbery taste - better at room temperature than cold. Hopefully it will improve in a week or two...

That was exactly the way Blue Point was back in the day. It was glorious. We’d buy growlers and 6-packs just because we felt we should.
