I just bought two four packs of pint cans of Finch's in western PA. I had no idea this beer was in PA yet. In fact Seek Brew's website does not even show it in PA. I bought the pale ale and IPA. I heard good things about these guys. Any thoughts about this? The pale ale was 10.99 for four and the IPA was a dollar more.
Chicago native here, thinks there's many other local breweries way better. Finch is expensive and I don't get their marketing scheme with Threadless. 5 Rabbit, Revolution, Pipeworks, Half Acre, Two Brothers .... Rep CHICAGO!
Threadless IPA is drinkable but so many better IPA's out there. The rest of their brews are drain pours IMHO.
I thought Threadless was pretty good, but prefer Half Acre's Daisy Cutter if I am choosing canned IPAs from Chicago. I was also surprised to see them in PA.
Finch isn't that great. Tried a bunch of them during Cleveland Beer Week when they hit the market and wasn't real impressed with any of them. In regards to seekabrew, which I use often for trade purposes, I have noticed that the lists are not updated frequently.
What he said. I only opened this post because I was wondering why anyone would care that it was in their state, or if the poster was pissed off and offended it was in their state. What did you think of it VitoF?
The Secret Stache just landed in eastern PA, and while the other offerings are 10.99 per four pack, the stout is just 6.49....and it's really damn good, especially at that price.
Chicago resident here, I have never enjoyed a Finch's beer. The new stout is god awful and Toasted Summer, their attempt at Kölsch, is easily one of the worst beers I have ever had.
I was just curious. I have not tried the beer yet. All the negative responses to such an simple question is disappointing! Way too many haters of the beer and this post!
Thought I was the only one... I took one sip of the IPA and poured it down the drain. Finch's? I'll pass.
I don't hate your post, and I'll be curious to know what you think of it. I was curious and bought it too, just like you. I just didn't care for it and generally I hope to like everything that's local to me.
A friend of mine texted me while he was at a bar and they were sampling Finch's. He went on about how good the stout was. I picked up a 4-pack based on that, and gotta say it was very average. Not sure what else my buddy had that night before he tasted this, because our tastes are usually pretty similar. Got 3 cans in the fridge for him next time he's over.
I saw the title pop up on my way to the Great Lakes forum and was shocked to see something about Finch's. They are not well appreciated in their home city (with reason). I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that they're expanding pretty widely because no one in/around Chicago will carry them. Having said that, Secret Stache was great last year when it was in bombers. Almost good enough to convince me to try more of their beers. I've seen the 4-packs this year but haven't bought one yet. It's disappointing to hear that they may have changed the recipe.
