I'm not sure if this has been a previous topic, but has anyone ever repacked a box and been pleasantly surprised?

I was just packing a large box and within the peanuts found a shorts censored ale. I had not seen this when I originally unpacked the box.

I don't remember who sent it but thank you! It was holding up just fine after a few weeks in my cellar.

It just lead me to wondering what kind of awesome extras go unnoticed until a later date. I am sure there are some good stories out there. Has anyone else have this happen before?

This has happened more than once to me. I think I might have a problem :slight_frown: I have found extras like Mirror Mirror, Spotted Cow and a whole bunch of others buried in boxes, and its always a great surprise, like finding a $10 in the laundry!

I just moved, and found a nice BCBS in a box about a week after unpacking. A pleasant and welcome surprise for sure!

This happened to me last week. I was repacking a box to send out and I found a bottle of Supplication in it. That really made my day. I'll probably have to ninja-box the guy who sent me that original box!

Since I moved to Baltimore I keep digging out bottles of commercial stuff in homebrew boxes. Backwoods Bastard, Chocolate Fever, canned BAG, some Eclipse variants.

Eclipse variants in a box as just 'beers you forgot about'? Jesus, what kind of homebrews are you trading!?

Well I had cellared beers in with the homebrew in the basement. So load it all into a truck and unpack it from a 2500sq/ft house into a 700sq/ft apartment, you start finding all sorts of crap you hid when you were drunk or thought you'd leave alone for a year or two.

Found a 2007 Black Albert in a box of packing material a while back. Cool thread op, I never thought this would have happened to anyone else.

Found a Bell's Batch 9,000 (not barrel aged) that same way a few months back. Solid Extra.

This is why you should always completely and thoroughly dig out a box before putting it away for later use, or kicking it to the curb.

I was just getting a box ready night before last and I found a bubble wrapped can of Bud Light in the bottom of the box I was reusing. I was terribly disappointed because I'm sure it's long past it's best. The worst thing is I couldn't find any return address info because I must have torn the label off so I don't know how I'm going to repay the sender for their incredible generosity in sending such a rare and highly sought after extra. If I figure out who sent it, they'll be getting a little surprise box for sure

Happened to me, except I didn't notice and sent the reused box to someone else, who thanks me for the such and such extras.... one of which I did not include! Blind BIF extra I guess lol
