Finding Beer to drink in Punta Cana?

    Hello BAs,

    I'm headed to the Dominican Republic in a month and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience finding decent beer on an island. We are staying at the Hard Rock so I would imagine they have good beer there right? I just don't want to be stuck drinking Presidente if there is another local option that I could track down.

    That's what I've heard but I'm worried about tolerance because as of late I have only been drinking beer. I guess some Pina Coladas and daiquiris couldn't hurt.

    Very interested in any responses here. Getting married in Punta Cana in May and my fiancé and I both hope to find something, anything that is decent. Went to Jamaica last year and had a few red stripe but mostly stuck to shots and mixed drinks. Thinking about bringing a couple bottles with to celebrate our wedding night. I have heard that is possible but they may take the beer when you enter the country.

    I wanted to do the same because we are going for a wedding and wanted to celebrate with some nice beers but I've heard you may be asked to hand them over at customs...

    I recently brought bottles into the DR via Santo Domingo airport and my luggage was not searched. But it's a crap shoot. I've seen plenty of random searches. It's worth taking a shot because a week of Presidente is hard to endure.
