I live in Northern New Jersey right outside New York City and am looking for some good places to buy beer...other then my usual places. Any suggestions?
beermenus.com is good for NYC Some of the more well known stores: WF Bowery Top Hops Good Beer New Beer American Beer
I live in northern NJ, where are you at? I pretty much know most places within a reasonable afternoon's drive (i.e. hour-ish roundtrip) and what are your "usual" places?
I go to Andys Bar and mix a six there from time to time....also whole foods and Queen Anne Wine and Spirits in Teaneck
It would be of great assistance and to your benefit to name your usual places. That way, you won't get told to go to one of your usual places.
alright, well you're definitely going to need to expand your "go-to" spots, which I suppose was the point of the thread (semi-related, this thread belongs in the mid-Atlantic regional forum) but to answer you: Cable Beverage in Nanuet, NY is phenomenal - not a far drive at all Liquor Outlet in Boonton, NJ - awesome selection, get some hard-to-finds, but pricier than most Super Buy-Rite in Jersey City, NJ - awesome selection, get hard-to-finds, but they're kind of shady about how they let them go (i.e. only "regulars") Whole Foods in Paramus, NJ - always worth checking (had Velvet Merkin last week) Bottle King in Glen Rock, NJ - best prices around for your shelf beers, get some specials (i.e. Eclipse, BCBCS, BCBBW, etc.)
oh yeah, and Total Wine in River Edge, NJ - not too bad, sometimes have a lot of shelf turds past their expy date though. shop carefully. they do mix-a-sixer though somewhat lesser is Heights Beer & Wine Emporium in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ - hidden behind Quest Fitness on Rt. 17 South. also has far too much old stock, but they do carry quite a bit of your regular everydays.
Cable Beverages pretty regularly updates their Facebook page, so it's good to check a few times a week. It'll keep you up to date on the growler station as well as when limited releases become available.
