I am coming over from the UK in August basically for a massive beer trip. Plans already include most of the breweries/bars in NYC plus a 2/3 day trip to Vermont to see the sights there as well.

However, on my trip I really would like to try and get hold of some beers from people like TRVE, Crooked Stave etc especially their sours (had a load at MBCC in Copenhagen and loved them). I don't see many places stocking them outside of Denver though? Are my chances slim?

As a thought, would there be any purchase in me looking for a bottle swap with some fine UK beers (cloudwater/magic rock/kernel/beavertown etc) if that was an option?

    Thanks

We don't get TRVE, but you'll have no problem finding Crooked Stave or even Trinity sours throughout NYC. When you have a better idea of your itinerary let us know and you'll probably be able to get a list of shops not too far out of your way.

Also, the Beermenus app works great over here, and will sort stores/bars by distance to your current location, if you search for anything in particular.

I feel that I should also mention that NYC and the general region have plenty of quality sour/wild ales of their own that you might be interested in sampling while you're here - Grimm, Kent Falls, Sloop, and others...

Thanks, will defo have to get the Beermenu app before I head across then!

Suppose I have to get my head around how many quality breweries there are in the US.!!
