I have never found a good beer in an unlikely location. I have found bad beers in unlikely locations, however (like Schlitz in a craft bar).

You can't even find Bourbon County in Chicago gas stations you lucky bastard. :grinning:

I'm not sure if this will classify as "unlikely locations" but I didn't hunt in the least bit for BCBS.
In fact, I didn't even try.
I just went out to my usual places, to do our weekly grocery shopping none the less, and ended up getting four 4-packs.

No, not in Georgia. Sorry for the confusion. I live 15 from the Florida border so I get to reap the benefits of GA and FL distro.

$12 for bcbs. Vanilla rye bomber was 32. I've split a bomber of stikee monkee and parabola with a friend for $24 a piece. I think prices are fairly reasonable especialy if you're there for a concert.

They had a Parabola event an had it on tap. It was going to be poured into a clear plastic party cup for $14 and the keg tap came out of a cooler. I just walked out. Good thing I only lived down the street.

Great thread. I was visiting my parents in suburban Detroit last week. Walked into a "mom & pop" neighborhood liquor store and they had a case of Big Bad Baptist sitting on a shelf at $12.99 each. Never could find this in Philly so I brought back two bottles. Gonna try one tomorrow night. And if they're as good as reviewed, have my brother in Detroit buy up several more!

similar experience as many mentioned with Bourbon County. Walked into my local Schnuchks (grocery store) and next to all the sixes of year round goose island stuff sits three 4-packs. Pick up one and left the other two

I found Abraxas sitting unassumingly on the shelf at my local Trader Joe's.

Tried BCBS Barleywine at Harry Carey's at Midway. That was an epic layover.

Found some Cantillon sitting on a shelf at The Charleston Beer exchange on a business trip. I think when I checked out I said,"holy crap." The guy said,"yeah. It's rainy afternoon. We thought we would put some on the shelf."

I have a great place that gets a wide variety and some decent whales. I'm keeping it that one under wraps.

Nothing too out of control but there's a few random convenient store type places near my house and every so often I will pop in just to see of there's anything and once I came across some 2012 sucuba and a different time, at a different location I stumbled upon a few hidden and dusty cantillon bottles.

Sheetz in rural areas of Virginia. I've stumbled on consistently stocked boulevard smokestack series bombers and bomvers from hardwood.

Target. Although it's no Binny's or Total Wine, the selection isn't that bad.

There's a coffee shop in Stockton, CA called Empresso that currently has Narwhal, Fireside Chat and I believe Almanac IPA on tap.

I also found a liquor store in Lodi, CA called Lakewood Liquors that had bottles of 2012 and 2013 Rogue XS Imperial Stout for $10 a pop. You know I grabbed everything off the shelf at that price

I've had some pretty fantastic beer at about 2500 meters above sea level. Nothing like a couple half liters of world class German lager in the middle of the alps during a ski day.

At one time I could find Hardywood releases at a Sheetz on Atlee Rd. in Hanover. GBS, BA GBS, BA Cru, etc.,.
