Apologies if this is already covered somewhere, but...

Is there any better way to find places (bars, breweries, stores)? If I'm traveling through rural America, I haven't found any method of searching for places on my route, or places within a certain radius of a city.

This issue is partially solved by the city beer guides, but for the rest of the country, do you have to search by (or just know the name of) every podunk municipality you may be traveling through in order to find places?

I feel like geotagging would be great in general. Even in places with city beer guides, if I'm in Dallas, I may want to find the best store within 15 miles, not everything in that massive metroplex.

And finding things in rural America seems awfully hard on this site without a ridiculously detailed geographical knowledge or a ton of time spent googling locations.

Have you tried using the BA Mobile App and using the Nearby Places option? I have used that when I am in the general vicinity of where I want to be looking to see what is nearby... also, I sometimes just scroll the map to see what is where I'm headed.

I know this is up for being revamped on the main site at some point in the future with a feature similar to what you describe.

You could just look for the names of the towns you'll be passing through under each state listing.

Looking for names is fine for a few larger towns, but it's not really feasible to figure out the name of every suburb or tiny hamlet along a route of any distance (100 miles or more).

You'd be passing through/near dozens, if not hundreds, of towns.

Do a search on the telephone area code that you'll be passing thru. I've done that with some success. If necessary, click on each brewery and then the 'Map" link and see if it is along your route.
