BA makes me feel like I'm missing out I the nectar of the gods by never having tried a beer by Three Floyds. I've never seen it in NJ or NYC (I work in Manhattan but live in North Jersey). Anyone know where I can snag a bottle?

Trades are the only way AFAIK.

Thanks. Never done a trade before. Guess I should get my feet wet.

Shipping is expensive, so keep that in mind.

Just a philosophical observation and recommendation....

If you really want to try some 3 Floyds someday, don't sweat it, as it will definitely happen. Not sure where you live, but try to meet other BA's in your area, and try to find out about some of the local bottle share events. I guarantee that after attending just one or two such events, your 3 floyds "cherry" will have been repeatedly burst.

Even out here in the NW, where I live now, invariably someone will bring some rare, limited release 3 floyd beer to a bottle share. Where you live (much closer to Indiana), I'll bet someone brings gumballhead and dreadnaught to every bottle share near you, and I'll bet that Dark Lord shows up half the time as well.

So be patient (I see that you're relatively new to BA), try to meet other BA's near you, and try to find information about local bottle shares near where you live. If you do all that, my guess is that come this time next year, you'll have completely forgotten that you ever had any concern about getting to try beers from 3 Floyds.

    Good luck!

3F used to be available in NJ years and years ago, but then they stopped shipping it. My understanding was that their distributor in NJ wasn't even able to get the brewery to respond to any of their requests. I understand that they probably expanded too fast and couldn't keep up with demand...but I think it left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths. Seemed like amateur hour if you ask me. If a distributor supports you, and sticks their neck out for you...that's no way to treat them. Not a big fan of them after that...there's plenty of other good breweries to support.

Downtown Bar & Grill in Cobble Hill Brooklyn usually has Alpha King and Gumball Head for on-premise consumption. I think it's like $7 or $8 a bottle.

I don't know how far you are willing to travel. But since DC allows sellers to self-import, 3 Floyds will likely but rarely pop up here. Though most likely at a bar, and sold in singles (Churchkey does this with Surly and has done it previously with Heady Topper). When (if) I encounter 3 Floyds, I'll mention it in this forum.

Thanks. Too bad I don't work for the ACLU anymore. I used to be in DC all the time.

They also had Zombie Dust at their anniversary party over the summer. I would call and make sure they have some before going.

The 2 sure ways I have found to experience 3 Floyds is to hit the Brewery, which has already been stated or to go to the Great Taste of the Midwest Beer Festival, held in August in Madison WI. The ones I have attended (3 out of the last 4 years), they bring a good variety & serve samples the whole festival and as far as I know, still distribute a good bit of beer to the local shops. Tickets are hard to get though.

Seekabrew.com is your friend. Obviously not all breweries have wide distribution ranges and seekabrew will let you search by brewery to see where they're available. You can also search by state to see what's available in NJ.

Zombie Dust was available as far back as this past Wednesday. Might still be there. Heady Topper certainly is.

OP, shipping is not that expensive, especially Indiana to jersey. For him to trade for some three Floyd's it would probably cost between $8 - $10 for a medium sized box.

johnmichaelsen is right. Trading can be expensive. Check out bottle shares sometime.

Then again, I did my first trade this summer for Zombie and Arctic Panzer. Shouldn't be too bad finding someone.
