Hello all, I have enjoyed following BA for a while now and I have read many of the reviews posted but I cannot seem to find a beer I'd like to try. I like trying new things and I have a few favorites but would like to find more. I like Heineken, Shiner Black and Foster's. I haven't found reviews for Shiner (a Texas, US lager) but have seen a few for Foster's that were not favorable. I'm not a fan of bitter beers, can anyone give me a suggestion of something to try? Thanks to everyone in advance.
Explore the site a bit. (I didn't even have to look to tell you are new member on the site and haven't doen much exploring since Shiner is pretty easy to look up and find reviews for ). If you click on the "Home" button on the upper left of your screen, it will take you to a page with lots of stuff on it including a pic of the cover of the most recent Beer Advocate magazine. If you enter Shiner in the search box in the upper right part of the page it will produce for you a list of beers with the word "shiner" in their name. Select the one you want to read reviews for... For example when you get to the page for Shiner black you'll find lots of reviews, in addition you can find a link that will take you to the style listing and find lots of other beers in that same style you may want to try. But, more importantly, if you look in the black space to the right on that page you'll find things like beer styles and beer 101 listed under the word education. Select Beer Styles and you'll get a nice list of a variety of types of beer and you can pick one of those links to read about that style, etc. If you pick Beer 101 you'll find a whole batch of interesting essays about different things related to beer, e.g., pairing beer and food, types of glassware commonly used with food.... You'll find that most of the people who do reviews for this site don't think much of Heineken or Fosters because they want a lot more flavor to enjoy than those beers provide. You don't want to worry about that since your goal is to find beers you'll enjoy. Have fun!
