I heard from a friend who will be working at the Venice location that the long-term plan will likely be to only feature a couple Barrelworks beers on tap similar to how the Paso facility has them. But the Pilot Batch System will offer exclusive Venice-only beers on draft, with the possibility of growler fills as well.

It appears as though FW is taking the approach that while each location is apart of the overall FW family, they also have their own distinct identities and offerings. Smart move if you ask me.

The combination of Pilot Batch brews ( hopefully with Growler fills ), a restaurant that I can take my wife to and a store where I can pick up releases such as Firestone 18, Parabola, Stickee Monkey, etc., as well as, the occasional Barrel Works release is a win, win, win, from my perspective.

Same. The fact that my wife enjoys their food up in Buellton, as well as the beers, also makes this a MUCH easier sell.

Except that, like most breweries in California, their growler fill prices are high. Add on that they really don't do many (might change with the small pilot system there but I highly doubt it) fills of special beers it's always a better value to pick up a fresh six/four pack than do a growler fill. And the six/four pack prices are pretty much always higher than anywhere you see it distributed. That said, the bottles are going to be the freshest you will find so if that is a problem in LA then this will help fix that as you mentioned.

Looks like Mid 2015 has been pushed slightly to September 2015. Glad the timeframe is getting narrower.

Right. Please look at the post above mine to understand the context.

The point was that David Walker admitted that the Sept opening was optimistic. Let's hope he pulls it off.

The link was just provided as full disclosure of the qoute.

I just mapped this place from my house. 25 minutes with Friday afternoon 405 N traffic. Can't open soon enough.

Sadly, the traffic around the Lincoln/Washington intersection can be much more maddening than the 405 traffic during rush hour. I'm only 4 miles away and I bet it takes me 25 minutes or more through traffic. Happy it's so close, but that area already sucks for traffic.
