Hey, I'm not sure if this belongs in this forum or in the cellaring / aging forum. I just picked up a Firestone Walker 18 Anniversary. I'm wondering if I should drink soon, or if I would be better off aging it. I know it's a new beer, so no one had adged it yet, but I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion based on how it tasted fresh. I only have one, so I don't have to option of trying it both ways.
    Thanks in advance.

It's delicious now. Give into peer pressure. Drink it.

    Drink now.
Had mine about a month or so ago - it is a blend of many beers, so I don't think it will improve, and was amazing fresh

Take it back and ask for your money back. It's the worst of the series by a long, long margin.

But if you age it maybe the hops will fade if youre lucky..right now it tastes like cheap bourbon poured into a thin Black IPA.
Some of the other FW Anniversarys have aged well for a year or two. There's mixed opinions on aging them longer than that.

I posted the same question about Abacus ~4 years ago and I'm going to give you the same advice. It's drinking great now and no one can tell you what it will taste like (though some may have educated guesses), so enjoy it now. Imo, it only makes sense to cellar if you had it once before or if it has sentimental value and you're saving it for a special day.

You can't drink when you are dead. Drink it now.

Then if you want to know how it ages then go buy another one.

    Piece of cake.

Drank two bottles already, it's really good. My rule is that if I want to age a beer, I buy two, drink one and then age the other. If you age a beer and don't have one fresh you won't be able to tell difference between them. So, drink it, you will not be disappointed, it's world class.

Can't imagine how it could possibly get any better. When it came out I bought one to drink and one to age. Fail. Then I bought two more to age. Guess how many I have in my possession now? (Hint; It's less than one)

Drink it now! And if you like go get another. Or trade for another?

I managed to get one, currently have this same conundrum haha.
For now, it'll sit in my closet until I find an occasion to [read: get bored enough to] open it.

I just drank a 14th Anniversary Firestone and it was the beer of the night of about 10 other barrel aged beers. That said, they are different each year and most of the anniversary beers taste good out the gate to me. The Sucaba is another story, I almost always just store it for at least a couple years. the 2012 is still hot out the bottle.

I agree with everyone else for the most part. I almost always buy 2 of something like this (or more!) and drink one fresh and age the other.

XVIII is really good right now. I had one 3 nights ago and thought it to be one of the best beers I've ever had. I was fortunate to get a couple so will revisit in a year or so. I say if you have one, drink it!

I bought two so i could drink one now, and it was pretty good so I hope I can leave the other one alone for a year lol. Always buy two bottles of those types of beers enjoy one now and sit on one Cheers !
