Nah - my stupid store got in two bottles and they never ever saw the shelf... :slight_frown:
It's the first year since 2010 that I haven't had Parabola...
    *streak broken*

The 2013 was far superior to my previous recollections of the beer...

I can't believe we've gone this far without a mention of the genius behind the beer, brewmaster Matt Brynildson. Not only does he create unbelievable beer, not only did he persuade (Adam) Firestone and (David) Walker to pursue barrel aging, but he's a great interview. Put his name (or the brewery's) into YouTube and check out the entertaining stuff that pops up...

Midsized brewer of the year 4 times in WBC. Similar results at GABF, and Eurostar.

We really like to visit the brewery and Paso.

FW is one of my favorite breweries. Especially for BA beers. IMO they have the best Barrel Program in USA if not the world. I've never been disappointed by any of their BA beers, they just continue to amaze me.

Luckily I got 4 bottles of 18th anniversary after waiting for months for it to arrive in NJ.

Cheers to Adam Firestone, David Walker, Matt Bryndildson, and the entire Firestone Walker team!!

Try trading. It's a good way to get beers you can't find locally.

We were at FW in 2010 shortly after they won the WBC. For some reason they did not think so, including what Matt said when we chatted with him on the brewery floor during a tour.

As well he damn should. FW's track record at those events is staggering. Folks who suggest they mean nothing are deluding themselves.

I think I am starting to enjoy their Barrelworks beers more than the other stuff.

I see Wookey Jack on the shelf at the Total Wine I go to but never buy it.

Question: how old is too old?

The ones I see sitting around are stamped October 8, 2014. Too old? What's the cut off? 2 months old? 1 month?

It really is up to you and how tolerant you are of hop fade. This beer is basically 3 months old and unless it has been stored continuously cold it will have a noticeable hop fade by now.

    Cheers!

Great thread. They're pretty damn amazing across the board. To me, it's what happens when a ton of money and resources meets a genius brewmaster... Matt Brynildson. I'm glad they made the guy a partner so he can keep doing his thing.
