Breaking off from the Parabola hysteria, from which I couldn't care less... One post in that thread mentioned the possibility of Double Barrel Ale (DBA) being shipped to Boston....not the "double" DBA but the 6-packs of FW's flagship. Can anyone confirm that the DBA will come too? Loved that beer on an extended west coast trip last year Perhaps as a consolation we may see some fresh Union Jack IPA too. Seeing way too many March & April brew dates around town...even at presumed "better" beer stores.
As far as I remember Firestone Walker has stated they won't ship the majority of their beers out here because they can't get them here fresh enough to be satisfactory. I always found it odd since their IPA gets out here but not their oatmeal stout? Whatever, I love me some Union Jack.
when it's fresh i love it as well. it seems we always get short coded union jack 6pks. i saw 6pks with 3/20 and 4/18 bottled on dates out in the boston area at multiple stores this week.
I can't speak for the Boston area really since I'm dealing with NY (Westchester) but I do believe L.Knife (daddy of Union, my distributor) is the distro for that area. Long story short, Their warehouse monkeys are complete dults. I've gotten a super fresh (Bottled on 6/28, arrived at my store on 7/7) and then the following weeks i've gotten 6/24, 6/12, 5/28 (which I sent back of course) There's some real issues going on with those warehouses. [Edit] Yes, It's a seasonal. It's more speaking on the fact they only send out their IPA which is incredibly time sensitive and their Reserve Series but not their six packs that can get away with being a bit more aged. [/edit]
