Firestone Walker Invitational 2018

First timer to the Adelaide and just arrived. Tried hanging out with a beer in the grassy area but it was quiet, dark and pretty cold and windy so we wussed out back to our room. If something's going on tonight we wouldn't mind checking it out; just not sure where the action is.

 

Hoping to be there around 5 or 6 tonight! Can't wait

 

Driving up from San Diego with a few brewery stops in between. I certainly can’t match what everyone else is bringing, but I’ll have some BA stouts and a crowler of haze. Can’t wait to get there.

 

Just look around near 5pm. pool area and grassy knoll should have plenty of drunks consuming.

Also, sad I didn't look out my room window since I was up and drinking.

 

Is this share open to anyone who attends tomorrow's event

 

Don’t sleep on Silva Brewing in Paso while in town. Silva Stout is tasting fucking great.

 

It's open to anyone that has a pulse.

Sad I had to dip out to get food, but that's probably for the best since I hadn't eaten all day haha.

Everyone was super welcoming (first timer here) and I'm so pumped for the festival today. Hoping to get a good breakfast and hearty meal in so I can make it to the share after the festival tonight. Got some more bottles I'd like to crack open

 

So? Favorites? Dislikes?

Jackie O’s brought a phenomenal BA Quad. Loved most everything from Side Project of course. Barrelworks never disappoints with their 3L action (Batch 1 Feral One, Feral Vinifera, Sour Opal). Disgusted and disappointed with Modern Times. The maple coffee BA Monsters Park was a diabetic mess and the strong ale tasted like cleaning solution.

The poke tacos rocked. The short rib slider from Pappy Macgregors rocked. The Eureka aged beef slider also rocked. Hot as all get out but plenty of shade to be found. Only 365 days until the next one!

Huna. Honestly I think this is one of the most overrated beers

 

Ugh, I saw a decent amount of people cutting in MASSIVE groups. Dare I ask you to describe them a little?

Huna this year is definitely a step down from previous years.

 

Anyone want to elaborate on why Modern Times was a disappointment?

3 Floyds running out of ChemTrail (we went straight for 3 Floyds and it was out by the time we got there. VIP early admission people probably got it all).
Me not getting to Jackie O's, Alvarado or SARA (passed by it going to 3 Floyds and never made my way back there)

All in all it was a great time. My second year going and I thought it was better overall this year, despite the heat.
