Is this always held the same weekend each year(weekend after Memorial Day)? Thinking about coming in 2016, but would have to plan well in advance.

Random question, but my wife and I are coming out to this event and are planning to stay a few nights. We will be in the Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo area for most of the time and are looking for a nice restaurant and other attractions to visit while we are there. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

If you'd like to visit the beach, then make a quick drive over to Avila Beach or Pismo Beach.

Thanks. Yeah, I think we'll try and plan a day over by the beaches. Are there any good restaurants by those areas?

For anyone who's been before: on the hotel drop dates, do you need to call or can you book online?

I'd like to know this as well. I figured we would have to call.

It says you have to mention Firestone Beer Fest so I think its safe to assume you'll need to call in.

If you dig sours, check out The Libertine Pub in Morro Bay.

Those kegs they brought down for their San Diego party were pretty legit. La Jolla price tag, but flavors were spot on and delicious.

    What IggyWH said:

If you dig sours, check out The Libertine Pub in Morro Bay. And then head north to check out the elephant seals:

I like heading north from the smaller north parking lot.

I have to get back to you on restaurant recommendations, but you should tour some of the wineries while you're in the region. Napa quality - if not better - and lower price tags.

As far as restaurants, Here are a few suggestions around San Luis Obispo:

Eureka Burger - All craft beer on tap with numerous rotating handles and very good burgers. HUGE whiskey selection as well
Luna Red - Good Tapas spot with a pretty big variety of selections on their menu
    F. McClintocks - One of THE places to go that showcases Santa Maria style BBQ. The steals are also very good.
Petra - fast casual Mediterranean food such as schwarma and lamb gyros
Splash Cafe - Clam chowder in a bread bowl. Nuff said! The original location is is Pismo Beach.

If you're feeling very adventurous, drive a little south of Pismo Beach to Nipomo and check out Jocko's Steakhouse. All oak fired steaks. I haven't found a better filet mignon on this planet yet.
