Even that price sucks. At least not everyone was compeltely gouging.

Nice man, sounds like you made out pretty good. Makes me wish i would have bought the 2 bottles of XVII that have just been sitting at a Ventura liquor store at $21.99 until recently!

A little off topic but has anybody tried jewbelation 17? I had the pleasure to try both the 17 by schmaltz bc and parabola within a day of each other. I thought they were very very similar. Imo jewbelation was slightly better due to a little more roasty flavor that I enjoy in my stouts. The parabola almost tasted like a barleywine to me from the big caramel, toffee flavor I got from it. But they were both very smooth and drinkable considering the abv. Cheers.

I was able to get Sucaba and Anniversary 17 but not Parabola. Last year it was available at the usual places.

I see parabola on haul pics all the time. Are these still sitting on shelves in some states? I had a really hard time landing only a couple by me.

Had this as my first beer of 2015 the other day, it was my first experience with Parabola. I found it to be very smooth and just as good as others in this category. I did find it a tad sweeter than say Black Note or BCBS, anybody agree?

One of the greatest brews ever made, in my opinion of course...

I see it on tap here and there in the LA area. Over-priced bottles from online craft shops are still around.

There are a couple of liquor stores near me that still have Parabola '14. They're selling them for $25-$30.

There's a small liquor store in Santa Barbara, CA near the airport that as of about 2 months ago had 2013 Merkin, Sucaba, Parabola and Double DBA.

The reason they still had them...Merkin and DDBA $26.99. Parabola/Sucaba $29.99 INSANE!

it is insane...then again, I can see people trading $20 worth of beer for a bottle then paying $10 to mail the trade. no different

Yeah. I don't see much point in trading for it when Parabola '15 will be released in 2 months anyway. Might as well wait and see if you can score a bottle at a store somewhere.

Parabola 2015 will be released in May. Firestone usually has pretty decent distribution so I usually stock up on 6 and drink then throughout the year. Sitting on a 2010-14 vertical.

Where did you see that it was going to be released in May? Last year it was released on March 8th.

I dont necessarily agree with those prices but FW themselves charges significant premiums for past vintages also. Parabola isn't available at all currently but DDBA, Sucaba and Merkin are about $35 each for 2013 bottles direct from Barrelworks in Buellton.

Ive learned that if you plan on cellaring or saving any its best to stock up immediately after release at $16 each and 6 bottle limit per visit, after that price goes up and availability and bottle limits go down fairly quickly.

no. I find BCBS WAY WAY sweeter. Had both last night. 2012 Parabola. 13 and 14 BCBS.

I agree. I've had them next to each other several times and BCBS definitely taste sweeter to me, it also possesses more of a port-like flavor profile... and it has a lot more bourbon bite and heat than Parabola.

They are both utterly incredible... but Parabola is a bit more balanced and refined than BCBS to me. It depends what kind of qualities you're looking for though. Funny enough, both GI and FW have never individually released the imperial stout base beer for either.

agreed. The BCBS '14 I had on tap in Dec was very sweet......and a boozy hot mess. I find Parabola way smoother around the edges.

Maybe my palate was a bit wrecked, I was drinking a lot of different things that night. Had some bottles of '13 and '14 BCBS but didn't even get around to drinking them that night.

Both are probably disgusting by themselves.
