Firestone Walker Parabola 2015

Got a bottle of this on the South side of Chicago recently. May bring it with me to DLD.

 

How's this drinking fresh?

 

Still nothing in Northern VA. Sounds like it might not be until next week.

got the last bottle at Village Beer Merchant in WNY...Premier tweeted out they are getting it friday for any Buffalo peeps.

Same here. I believe someone told me a few weeks ago that this is because it was aged in 2014.

 

Now I gotcha. Thanks for making it so much more obvious. You guys have eagle eyes I give you that

 

6 bottles only landed in one of our premier bottle shops in Buffalo NY. I as guessed do not possess any of these 6.

 

Oh how I wish I still lived in Buffalo so I could shop at Premier, I also worked for them for 2 years.

Got my 2 bottles of parabola and 2 bottles of sucaba on the way now.

 

I was there yesterday as he awaited the truck. I couldn't wait I settled for some Plead the 5th, Spaghetti Western and last ( prepaid on phone ) of Sunday Morning.

 

Has anyone tried this years yet? How does it drink fresh?

 

Several of you have asked and no one chimed in with an answer so I thought I'd help and answer this. Just had a bottle of 2015 Parabola for my Bday and I thought it was really nice. I'm not quite the beer connoisseur that many of you are so please forgive my naiveté as rating beer is not my forte but it was smooth, potent but not overwhelmingly so, with definite hints of chocolate and even espresso/coffee. I think it would be better maybe with a little more aging but what do I know. I think it's more drinkable than BCBS which is just flat-out potent (but maybe Parabola's not as nice as BCBCS or Vanilla Rye) and not as sweet as KBS. Interestingly enough I have a 2010 and 2011 which I haven't opened yet so it will be interesting to see the difference 4-5 years of aging does but maybe I should've tried these in the same night or two (I didn't know I'd be drinking the 2015 when I did as I received it as a gift and drank it right away with my nephew who gave it to me).

I hate to tell you guys but a bunch of this fell onto my lap here in Northern CA. I got 1 bottle at two different BevMos (some had 2 bottle per person limits but not where I got it) then only one single store out of all of my mom and pop liquor stores got any and had 15-20 when I got there so I bought (only) two….I wanted to leave some for everyone else. Then several days later I got the above mentioned bottle plus one more for my Bday from my nephew who stumbled into a bottle shop in San Francisco, saw them and just had a hunch I would like them. So if anyone has a Focal Banger out there I'd be willing to part with any of these (even 2010 or 2011). Cheers guys and hope this hits your shelves soon. It was pretty damn good.

 

I still havent seen any in Mass

 

I had two bottles of it this past week and will definitely say that it's not as good this year to me. There's way more oak char coming through than any of the previous vintages. I recently opened a 2012 and had 2014 on draft at FW the day before the release and those were amazing, but it was a struggle to finish my glass of this year's vintage. Obviously, YMMV and IMO and all that.

 

My guy at the Urban Grape said they got a couple last Friday but it didn't last long. I've checked a bunch of stores and most were upset with how little they were allocated this year.

 

It didn't equal my memories of past years. Whether that's my own bias or a change in flavor, I can't say.
