scored a couple of bottles. sounds like distro screwed up a few orders so we may see an even later release than expected for some liquor stores.

Sacramento still has not had it in stores. All the management at bevmo and total wine tell me that they will have it next week. I've heard that for 4 weeks now.

 

I just got my 1st bottle ever in a trade with a guy in SOCAL. Haven't tried it yet, but waiting for a bottle share night with my pals. We get FW distribution in Maryland but the box beers are extremely scarce to non-existent. I've never seen Parabola and been looking / talking to ever store owner I encounter last 3 years. They either get 4 bottles max or none at all. Seems Western States get alot more quantity of the FW box beers than what makes it to the east. Just from reading on this forum and fact when I was in Colorado last fall, there were numerous boxes of Stickee Monkey on the shelf and never seen it in MD anywhere. Brought one home. Delicious.

This year's parabola definitely had an oaky, ashy bitterness on the backend that was full-force around serving temp (55 degrees F). Went away a little as it warmed. But not as great as years passed.

 

Weird; I found this year's fresh to be the best of any of the past four years, though only marginally better than last year's.

 

Same here on '16 compared to past years. Damn good IMHO. '15 is right there though almost splitting hairs in which tastes better. Maybe I'm getting too old for this, weak taste buds must be one of the signs. ...

 

It took some work, but I wrangled 3 bottles on the Central Coast. I'll open the first bottle this weekend. My only taste of Parabola was literally a taste on a brewery tour last summer. Can't wait to crack one open.

 

So, several places got it. The newport news total wine had three cases last week and went quick as hell. Whole foods was suppossd to get some last friday and then wednesdah, but they had IT issues and are unsure if they are getting anymore. As far as O am aware ot is all purchased in this area... for now.

 

Picked up some today.

Yep, the distributor better do something nice for us for screwing up... like not screwing up next year!

 

I agree. I still enjoyed my bottle, but I felt like it had almost a burnt, bitter character that I don't remember in this beer. It wasn't hop bitterness, but seemed to come from the malts used or maybe the barrels, and it clashed with the big sweetness in my opinion.
