Wow, it’ll be more than 6 weeks old at that point so I hope you’re right about them staggering cans. I’m gonna get it regardless though,, of course

I don't think it's the same as Wooky Jack, but I still like it a lot. I'm going to go grab a case tomorrow morning.

    Good to hear, thanks!

It looks like it'll be my Super Bowl beer, then. With a beer like this, another two weeks won't make a tremendous amount of difference, I'm sure.

What are we talking, a few days difference? Let's not get crazy, those other cans are just about at a month, add 2 weeks...close enough.

I'm with you, though- my only question is do I get 1 pack or 2?

Firestone is distributed by an inbev distributor here, Couch. Pretty sure the delay is with them. They always sit on beer.

I can see that man, when I grab an expensive 4 pack I expect some fantastic beer, in my opinion, this series would benefit from being rebranded and put in 6 packs

I got a draft pour at Boulevard last week. It was good, but that's all I need of it. I'm glad it's on shelves now though. May opt to buy a 4 pack later on, but in no rush. It's just nice to have a black ipa back on the shelves around here.

My Costco normally gets the LvU beers a week or two ahead of other places in the area. I have been refraining from Costco for a few weeks, but I am due for a trip very soon. I'll let you guys know what I find.

Stoked for this one. Loved me some Wookey Jack back in the day.

I picked up a 4 pack of this a couple of days ago. Have yet to try it though. Lagunitas NightTime should still be around. That's probably my favorite Black IPA along with Odell Mountain Standard. Wookey Jack was a little below those 2 for me. We'll see how Wookus stacks up.

Don't you get Odell Mountain Standard and Lagunitas NightTime? We get those here in the St Louis area and both are great Black IPAs.

Yes! I had Mountain Standard for the first time in the past two weeks, and have tried Lagunitas NightTime. With Wookus in the mix, we have one in each format - 12oz, 16oz, and 22oz. Although NightTime is technically more expensive than Wookus per ounce, I prefer NightTime. It's a lovely pick up for $4.

So yes, we still have a couple black IPAs on shelves, but not nearly as many as their light-malt siblings.

Yep I’ve been monitoring. Got a friend going to Brooklyn Harvest tomorrow to pick me up a 4. I’ll report back.

There's a label approval floating around out there for the next Leo vs Ursus release called Doublus, and it says it's an unfiltered DIPA around the same ABV as Double Jack. In the same way that Wookus was a riff on Wookey Jack, my guess is that Doublus is a riff on DJ. I could be wrong though.

Man, I see so many people say that, and it bums me out hard. I'm lucky to live in an area where we seem to get fairly fresh Firestone (at least no harder to find fresh than most other regionally distributed breweries). I hope FW takes notice; freshness is a big deal (always was, but all the moreso now with all these small breweries selling cans straight off the canning line). And, agree that I would (and do!) drink a ton of UJ and Pivo and most other Firestone beer whenever I find it fresh -- not many better breweries out there, IMO.

Also, had a can of Wookus this weekend. Huge hop nose, grapefruit, mint, pine, dark bread crust, healthy bitterness, sweetness worked in too though. Right nice stuff and a welcome return for Wookey, or at least something close to it.

I checked the other night. Still not here. I doubt its already come and gone. the LvU don't move very quickly.

I haven't seen the Lagunitas NightTime in mid-MO, but like Harrison8, got to try the Mountain Standard for the first time about a month ago. I have to give Mountain Standard a slight edge over the Wookus. It's a little less roasty which fit my tastes more with the hops used. My favorite overall, was the first release, Fortem.
