Shot them an email asking when we might see their product in our parts. (I have heard a great deal about their quality) got a response back not anytime soon. They are expanding in 2016 but just not in the deep south. Do y'all think GA is a tough market? I saw where Sixpoint came and went as well as a few others.
Beer nerds in AL? No way... FW is pretty good, but having regular access to it in VA usually means at a minimum a 4 week old Union Jack, Wookie Jack, Double Jack...it's good but there are better local offerings than a 4-6 week old beer IMO, at least for VA. The Reserve series stuff is good, but you need to chase trucks or have good friends that own/manage/work at stores that get any bottles has been my experience. I've yet to see a fresher IPA from FW that is less than 4 weeks old anywhere in VA. Trade for it from people in CA that have access to fresher IPA's...and most of the Reserve stuff are shelf turds there too. I've got a number of breweries that I have access to in VA, either VA, MD, NC based that are well before FW on my "list of breweries I love" sort of list. Throw in friends in NJ, NY, CT, MA, and FW isn't even on my radar anymore...so many first world problems is my biggest issue.
I live just over the line in AL, in metro ATL every week so yeah we have good choices here. I have been on this kick where i need something different to mix in with my go to choices every weekend. I may try a trade.
I think FW brews some excellent beers, I frequently buy them on-line, but I agree with the sentiment above, there's other brewery's I'd like to see in SC before them
Fresh FW IPAs are unicorns. They are nearly impossible to find, but so amazing if you do. Even out in CA within 100 miles of the brewery it's nearly impossible to find their IPAs under 2 months old.
